Location description from owner
The Lazio region
SurroundingsFormello is a town and comune in the province of Rome. It is located southwest of the Monti Sabatini, within the Regional Park of Veio. The communal territory is mostly composed by tuff, and is intensively cultivated. This town is known to be one of the few to have a football club in Serie A: S.S. Lazio. As an Italian comune, it includes some of the archaeological sites associated with the former Etruscan city of Veii, north of the village of Isola Farnese, south of Formello. About 780, with newly peaceful conditions, Pope Adrian I assembled a great estate of which this territory formed part, his Domusculta Capracorum. The domus' territories included a fundus Formellum, where a settlement developed that was first mentioned in 1027.In the 11th century it was a possession of the Roman Basilica of San Paolo fuori le Mura, and was probably fortified in the same period. In 1279 it became a fief of the Orsini family, who sold it to the Chigi in 1661. Points of Interest - Church of San Lorenzo (10th-11th century). - Palazzo Chigi. It was built by the Orsini, probably over the pre-existing castrum mentioned in the eleventh century. It houses the Archaeological Museum of the Countryside of Veii - Church of San Michele Arcangelo.-The ruined Villa Chigi-Versaglia, built by cardinal Flavio Chigi in the 17th century.

“Fantastic holiday and warm welcoming hosts!”
This was my first trip to Italy and I am over joyed to say that it excelled my expectations. The breath taking scenic views could be admired from the pool side alongside the fantastic weather. Suki and Georgio (the host and hostess) were more than welcoming, their kind hospitality ensured that our stay was very comfortable and their knowledge of the area was invaluable to us. The rooms were nicely decorated and the kitchen was lovely and easy to use. Our whole stay was spectacular and I will definitely go back. I highly recommend this villa for a wonderful holiday.
“Fantastic! Better than the pictures/description.”
Our family rented this wonderful villa just outside of Rome and it was spectacular. The beautiful pictures shown here don't even do it justice - we found it better than what we expected and the owners are wonderful people who have been most helpful. For a larger group transportation into/around Rome could be an issue so I would recommend that this be coordinated prior to your arrival. The ample kitchen facilities allows you to be fully independent; cooking and eating what and when you wish. We stayed here in October and the weather was perfect. I could not more highly recommend this property.
