Stockton Rise is set in a spectacular position overlooking farmland in the picturesque Lockyer Valley. Just one hour west of Brisbane and less than 11/2 hours from the Gold Coast, Stockton Rise is located 4 km south of the boutique village of Forest Hill and close to Laidley and Gatton townships. You can discover the delights of this rich agricultural area by taking a farm drive; visiting local markets or farm gate stalls to buy the freshest and best of Queensland produce. Alternatively, sit in comfort on the large deck or verandah of the retreat and watch over the day's activities from afar.
There is much to do and you may just want to stay for a week or more to explore this very historical area or base yourself here whilst exploring nearby parts of South East Queensland.
If you are feeling adventurous, bring a rod, your canoe or push bikes and explore the surrounding farmland including the large irrigation dam, or take a leisurely walk to enjoy spectacular sunrise or sunsets over the water. The Queensland region
Stockton Rise is an award winning business situated in the Lockyer Valley which is located west of Brisbane in the state of Queensland. Queensland is known by it's slogan "Beautiful One Day; Perfect the Next".
The Lockyer Valley is known for it's vegetable production, being the Salad Bowl of Australia. The Valley also holds some well known and attended events such as the Lockyer Powerfest (held at Lake Dyer, near Laidley), The Laidley Spring Festival in September and the Heavy Horse Field Days in May at Gatton.
There are many activities that can keep you interested in the Lockyer Valley and surrounds. Visit Lake Dyer, Schultz's Lookout, the Mulgowie Farmer's Market, Laidley Market Days, as well as stopping at any of the many boutique coffee shops and cafes in the Valley. You may be interested in bird watching, cycling, bushwalking, ballooning, sky diving, equestrian - the Lockyer has it all.
Stockton Rise is located very centrally in the Lockyer Valley as well as being close to all larger centres such as Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba and the North and South Coasts and the Somerset and Fassifern Valleys for a day's drive.
The immediate area is known as Glen Cairn. This was part of the original Cob & Co route with Glen Cairn Road being renamed after it was known as Old Toowoomba Road. Take a drive or a walk around the area, or read the history - there is much early history still to be found; from the old bridge on Sandy Creek to the billabongs where the horses were watered after a day's travel.
There is an abundance of old Australiana farm implements at Stockton Rise - you are welcome to explore and relive history.
The small nearby township of Forest Hill has some lovely eating places as well as a beautiful craft shop and butcher. There is no queuing at the Post Office where you can browse their beautiful gift selections or enjoy a meal here at Café 4342.
A short drive away is the town of Laidley with a Pioneer Village and lots of interesting buildings to admire in the main street. Enjoy a coffee at the local cafes in Laidley and go for a drive through the farming area of Mulgowie - stopping at the Mulgowie Hotel for a taste of some local cheeses and ice cream.
There are many special drives you can do in the Lockyer (see the Lockyer booklet in the house) or talk to Patti about some special farm drives where you can stop and purchase fresh farm produce.

"A beautifully appointed house in a rural setting, scenic, quiet and relaxing."
We had a great visit as we had only passed through this area previously. there is lots to see in the surrounding communities. The house has all the fixtures and mod cons you could desire. My back enjoyed the comfortable large bed, and the views of the valley are memorable.

"Peaceful country retreat"
Stayed at Stockton Rise while while working in the area. As a frequent work traveller, its important for me to have a comfortable, easy, quiet place to go to after my working day is finished. Stockton Rise was perfect for me - self contained, clean, comfortable and almost brand new.

"Superb hardware but not much tourist interested activities nearby"
Our family like the well equipped home with all necessary amenities, safety features. The lack of tourist interested activities nearby give no reason for longer stay. We enjoyed the family activities of preparing our home cooked dinner and breakfast, especially in the morning when the cows, horses, kangaroos and birds come nearby the house for breakfast, too:):):).
Thank you for your kind comments. I’m glad you enjoyed the facilities and found them easy to use. I hope you are able to come again when you next visit Australia and I would love to personally show you around the Valley. With limited time it is harder to see what is on offer. Being a country area we don’t have the tourist activities of the larger centres however, there is still much to do and see in the Lockyer Valley. I hope you are able to visit again.

"Very comfortable, great outlook"
We (4 adutls) stayed at Stockton Rise while we were working in the area. The house is very comfortable, without feeling crowded with 4 adults. The kitchen was well appointed and the beds comfortable. The outlook was very peaceful in the evening, and the local kangaroos fascinated one member of our crew, newly arrived from France. The nearby town was quaint with the pub providing excellent dinners. Will definitely stay again when next in the area again.
Thank you for the review of your stay. We enjoyed having your group and I’m so glad the kangaroos put on a show for your French visitor. We are certainly in a great position so close to a few small towns, so a good choice of cafes and pubs for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We look forward to your next visit.

"An absolute gem for our memoirs"
Everything about our stay was just perfect. The accommodation was exceptional in design with great amenities and all set in a superb location central to everything in the Lockyer Valley. We were warmly welcomed by Patti who made us feel completely at ease and provided us with numerous recommendations to sight see and dine. Really enjoyed all the bird life and breakfast/dinner on the balcony at sunrise/sunset. One of the best holidays we've had in years. Thoroughly enjoyable, extremely relaxing and now very high on our list for recommendation.
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay in the Lockyer Valley and I’m pleased that you were able to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings whilst sightseeing as well. I hope you are able to come back to this part of Queensland sometime in the near future.
