“Great house - perfect for families or groups to hang out together”

Reviewed 8 May 2018

7 of us stayed at Ashtead, and 7 of us loved it. The farm is beautifully located to give you stunning views and an authentic rural atmosphere, but it’s a stone’s throw from Lake District key attractions. It is very well and thoughtfully kept- immaculate, with nice considerate touches like a packet of biscuits to welcome you. I think the photos on the site do not do it full justice. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

“Amazing weekend”

I booked the house as a surprise for my boyfriends 30th and had his friends arrive after as part of the surprise. Helen was so thoughtful and decorated the dining room with balloons for when we arrived. Everyone loved the stay and there was space outside for a bbq while enjoying the view. Definitely recommend to anyone.

“Excellent Farmhouse !!!”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2017

Just back from the nice Ashtead Farmhouse. A true gem if you want to get away from the busy life and spend some quality time with family and friends. It took a while to warm up, but once we lit the fire, it was nice and cosy. Nice gesture from the owner to keep milk, tea coffee and biscuits, and it was nice and clean just as you want it to be. We would definitely return again!!

“Fabulous staying”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2017

My family and I enjoyed staying in the ashsted farm house and like it so much. It was one of our dreams to live in the nature far from the cities and this is what we have got. The house was cleaned and Helen and her family were nice and friendly. She is generous and giving us big quantity of woods since we like fire. I strongly recommended staying in the house and if I have a chance in the future I will go directly to Ashsted house.

What a fabulous find. if you want a pretty remote escape from it all type of place, then you won't be disappointed. The drive to the house across the fields and opening the farmers gates, missing the sheep...we knew we were going to love it. the open fire was fab and the three big sofas around it were enough for all eight of us. kitchen had everything needed (Inc milk in fridge and bread out). Bathrooms had toiletry sets incase anything forgotten which was a great touch. This isn't a luxury property, but it is a clean, well maintained, thoughtful cottage which was close enough to the sights to suit us. (45min from south lakes safari). One toilet downstairs and one bathroom / shower up, so if you are going as a group then a little patience needed using the facilities.

“Hidden treasure”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2016

Stayed here in January and had a fantastic stay. It was warm and cosy with a lovely open fire prepared for us just to light, the rooms were spacious and clean and there were little extras in the kitchen that was a bonus ( milk, bread, coffee etc). Great country side retreat but not far from local attractions and towns to visit and I would definitely stay again.

“An amazing farmhouse stay”

A really lovely, spacious farmhouse and Helen was an extremely friendly host. the fireplace was great and really kept us warm in the evening. it is in a good location as well about 10 minutes drive from the nearest town and only a short drive from Windermere.

“Bring everything you need, it's lovely here”

Reviewed 14 Sep 2015

Great location, property, landlady. Definitely recommend, we had a great time! A bit in the middle of nowhere though, so bring a car because taxis are pricey unless split between a big group.

“A beautiful farm in the middle of heaven.”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2015

A beautiful farm in the middle of heaven. We were a family of 6 ranging from 8 yrs to 67- everyone loved it! The setting is magical with kittens, dogs, sheep and horses, a wonderful welcoming 'home from home' with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Lovely touches such as the welcome pack of biscuits, bread, milk and tea, toiletries and the fire ready made for those cooler evenings. Fantastic and can't wait to return. Thank you. X
