“Paradise Revisited”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2015

Our travelling mantra is "never go back" but when the opportunity arose for us to return to Chateau Caillac with friends - we jumped at the chance. Better than I remembered and came away wanting to return again. The house looked as magnificent as ever - like a fairytale castle sitting on the river bank. A group of 14 took the house this time and it could have easily coped with a lot more - still room for privacy but with a fabulous feeling of space. All local amenities within 10 minutes away, and a good array of restaurants to choose from. The House keeper Kim booked two restaurants for us when we were struggling with the language too. From bike rides to fishing, walking to swimming in the pool, BBQ's at night in the fully equipped outside eating area and long lazy lunches on the terraces under the canopy. This place is ideal for special occasions, family holidays, activity groups or just a lazy summer holiday by the river. Hope to go back again one day.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit for a second time. We too hope that you return again sometime. Thank you for taking the time to write your review.

“Expectations Exceeded”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2012

"Expectations Exceeded". These two words pretty much describe our entire week's stay … > From the booking process through the closing/farewell process! > From the initial drive up the tree lined driveway to the farewell wave! There were 12 of us in our group (some couples and some singles) and the chateau provided ample areas for us all to be together, plenty of space for smaller group gatherings and lots of little nooks for some alone time if desired. Our group really likes food. We like everything about food! So how fortunate were we to be at this chateau in this incredible part of France? The people of this region live off the land and their products at the various open markets reflect their love of and pride in the food and products of their region. The great kitchens at the chateau were spacious and well laid out and provided some of our best times. I say kitchens because there are 2 kitchens - one in the house and one at the pool/BBQ area. There are also 3 eating areas that easily accommodated the entire group - the dining room right across from the kitchen, the outside patio area just outside the kitchen and the fabulous arbor covered dining area in the pool/BBQ area. Needless to say our meals were fantastic and most of all ... FUN! I know it sounds like we were totally immersed in "food" … well, maybe we were but we all took enough time to enjoy other wonderful aspects of the chateau: the pool - my personal favorite (I swam almost every day); the stable of bikes; the fruit trees - the plums were delicious; plenty of outside open area for games large and small; and, the Lot River with all it has to offer. Chateau Caillac truly offers something for everyone. We found the chateau an its grounds to be a true reflection of the pictures on the website - all beautifully kept up. The house itself is clean, comfortable and well appointed, the pool is clean and inviting (even in October!) and the grounds are so well cared for. I would be remiss if I ended this without giving a nod to Kim, "the housekeeper". Kim was at the chateau to welcome us and continued to be a wonderful resource throughout our stay. She was always just a phone call away. Thanks, Kim. So, now I will end this review just the way I started … "Expectations Exceeded"

I am very happy to hear that you all had a great holiday and that the Chateau and the local area exceeded your expectations. The enjoyment of my guests is so important to me and I am pleased that Kim was as helpful as ever, she is a godsend to me. I do hope that you and your group will return again in the future.

“Wonderful, relaxing holiday in beautiful location and stunning french chateau”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2012

We travelled through France by car in August, stopping at various hotels and were delighted to arrive at Chateau Caillac. Our first port of call was a dip in the pool overlooking the river - marvellous! The Chateau offered our group flexible accommodation and activities - I wanted to sunbathe, drink wine and chat. My husband wanted to watch the Olympics, deal with emails (work) and walk. Friends boated, cycled - and also drank wine. The Chateau was so well equipped that we wanted for nothing. It was so easy to cycle or walk to local villages for lunch or dinner - and the farmers market with evening entertainment made us realise why we love France so much. I would unreserevedly recommend this chateau to everyone looking for contemporary conveniences with old world charms.

We are very pleased to hear that you had such an enjoyable holiday. We understand completely your comments about the farmers markets, we too love visiting Fongrave on a warm evening, enjoying a glass or two with friends.

“Beautiful Chateau in a fabulous location”

Reviewed 30 Jan 2012

We had a wonderful week at the chateau. The weather was kind to us. The chateau is in a lovely location. The river at the bottom of the garden is a real plus. Fishing, boating, swimming pool, table tennis, snooker all available at the chateau. I would highly recommend the chateau for familes.

Thank you for your review. We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Chateau Caillac.
