The inviting hallway leads to a cosy carpeted sitting room boasting all the comforts of home, with a flat screen SKY TV, DVD player, PlayStation console and WIFI access. Beautifully finished in a classic nautical style, the room provides the perfect haven in all seasons. A contemporary wood burning stove accompanied by sumptuous leather seating offers the ideal spot in which to unwind after an autumn or wintertime walk.

The Cornish slate flooring of the hallway flows through to a dining room and separate fitted kitchen. Guests can easily savour meals here during their stay, with the spot-lit dining room beautifully presented for all occasions, with a solid oak table and 6 high backed leather chairs set

within the timeless coastal interior of the room.

Accompanying the dining room, a contemporary-fitted kitchen is fully-equipped to provide an inviting setting for home cooking and enjoying the local produce. The Cornwall region

Flushing is one known to be one of the warmest villages in the UK because it has an idyllic sheltered south-facing aspect, between the banks of the Penryn River and Falmouth Harbour.

It became popular in the eighteenth century as the choice location for the wealthy Packet Ship captains, and was visited by Admiral Nelson. Latterly it has become one of the most sought-after locations anywhere in the West Country. Flushing has an unrivalled mild climate, streets lined with picture-postcard traditional terraced fisherman’s cottages, and beautiful unspoilt surrounding countryside.

There is also easy access onto some of the best sailing waters anywhere in the West Country, with the Helford River, the Fal Estury, Falmouth Bay and Mylor Yacht Harbour all within reach. Flushing also has a Sailing Club that welcomes guests, and it’s own dog-friendly beach.


Many Cornish villages have become over crowded with tourists, but Flushing is much quieter, even during peak season, and it still benefits from a strong and vibrant community. The Flushing Regatta and Flushing Art Week are two annual fixtures not to be missed that the whole community embraces.

Flushing has two friendly pubs - The Standard, which was recently renovated and offers excellent food, and The Seven Stars, a more traditional pub with an equally extensive menu. There is also a stunning waterside seafood restaurant located on the quay, and a friendly well-stocked general store.

A passenger ferry runs a regular service between Flushing and Falmouth. It also connects with the ferries to St Mawes, Mylor, Trelissick and Truro. In summer the Fal River boats offer trips to the gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan, and onwards to Truro. A local water taxi service also runs around the bay.

Flushing is easy to reach by car. Penryn is the nearest rail station and connects to mainline services at Truro, which has a direct rail link to London (Paddington) with a journey time of approximately 4 hours. There is also a regular local bus service. Air travellers can fly from London Stansted or Gatwick to Newquay.

"Fantastic accommodation in a fantastic location."

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in The Green House. The accommodation was lovely, the quality of furnishing and attention to detail were excellent and we enjoyed the welcome - fresh scones for us, and treats for our dog Scrabble. Flushing is a beautiful setting, a quiet waterside village but with two great pubs and a fabulous fish restaurant in The Waterside. I would recommend both this area of Cornwall, and The Green House. Flushing is also well placed, a short drive from Falmouth and Truro, and less than an hour to St Ives. Porth Kidney beach near St Ives was a find - white sands and dog friendly.

"Fantastic holiday cottage with the 'wow' factor!"

We cannot recommend this cottage enough. The location is great with the regular, half hourly Flushing ferry service over to Falmouth (except) Sundays. Parking was not a problem. The cottage itself was tastefully furnished together with some outstanding features such as the low lighting on the landing and the heated bathroom floor. Everything necessary for a comfotable stay was provided, from logs to dishwasher tablets, from Sky+ to a fab Cornish Cream Tea!

"Fabulous flushing"

This is the seond year we have stayed in the Green House and we love it even more. Excellent accommodation and the owner stuart has thought of everything. Top class luxury. Our dog teddy was also welcome. Friendly village and excellent pubs.

"We love this house!"

We love this house! Everything was perfect. The house and decor are fresh, clean and pleasant. It appeared that the kitchen, baths and bedrooms were fitted out with new furnishings picked out just for the Green House. There is no sense that anything in the house was from the thrift shop or a cast off or broken set from the owner's home. Some of our past rental houses were so full of the owner's junk that we felt unwelcome, but that was not the case at the Green House. We had excellent communication with the owner by email, phone and text. Flushing is very pleasant with a village ambiance but near to a larger city for shopping and transportation. We enjoyed the Flushing pubs and used the little store for a few things. We used the ferry to Falmouth for shopping and to connect to other transportation. We flew from the US to Gatwick to Newquay and rented a car which we used to get to and from the airport and for a trip to Porthcurno. Otherwise, the car sat. Next time we will skip the rental car and save the money. It is very easy to get around using the bus, train and ferry.
