Situated in the heart of Flushing, this lovely two-bedroomed terraced cottage with garden has been fully renovated and tastefully furnished to provide charming character accommodation with a fresh, bright feel.
Flushing has long been a favoured destination for those looking for a relaxing break by the sea and Poppy Cottage provides the perfect base for enjoying traditional seaside pursuits and making the most of all that this charming village has to offer. A fisherman's cottage dating back to the 18th century, the owners have transformed this property into flexible holiday accommodation full of character. Decorated largely in white and furnished using shades of stones, greys and sand with accents of red, Poppy Cottage exudes a relaxed air of calm.
A beautiful lounge with tiled floor and white painted beamed ceiling greets you as you step through the front door of this special cottage. A large, squashy sofa and matching armchair dotted with cushions have been temptingly arranged around an open fire to provide a cosy space in which to snuggle down and read a good book on a lazy afternoon. Additional entertainment has also been provided here in the form of a flat-screen TV, DVD player and complimentary Wi-Fi access.
The lounge leads on to a cleverly designed kitchen with modern wooden units and matching central island. Integrated appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer oven and hob ensure that you have access to the same standard of kitchen as you do at home, so that you really can let your culinary skills shine and make the very most of the fresh seafood available on your doorstep.
A spacious dining area has been created in the bright conservatory which is a recent additional to Poppy Cottage. With a view over the garden, comfy sofa, flat-screen TV and games console, this space is a useful alternative to the lounge at the front of the house, particularly useful for those holidaying with children.
French doors lead from here out to the charming courtyard garden brightened with stone-walled beds of colourful planting. An all-important BBQ is provided for your use, as is a large table with chairs, perfect for al fresco meals. The garden shed has been fitted with washer/dryer and serves as laundry room and useful drying space for wet beach gear.
Poppy Cottage benefits from two bright, tastefully decorated bedrooms which are both located on the first floor. The master bedroom overlooks the garden and has a double bed and wardrobe. The second bedroom, located to the front of the house, has pretty street views and is equipped with two single beds. Also on this floor is the cottage's family bathroom which has a fresh, nautical theme and benefits from a W.C., and bath with shower. Complimentary bath products are provided, as are quality towels and bed linen.
An extremely welcoming house in the heart of one of Cornwall's most charming villages –and one of our dog-friendly properties too- Poppy Cottage offers stylish, unpretentious accommodation with private outdoor space in an unforgettable location.

The Cornwall region
Flushing is perfectly placed to explore all of Cornwall. it is one known to be one of the warmest villages in the UK because it has an idyllic sheltered south-facing aspect, between the banks of the Penryn River and Falmouth Harbour.
It became popular in the eighteenth century as the choice location for the wealthy Packet Ship captains, and was visited by Admiral Nelson. Latterly it has become one of the most sought-after locations anywhere in the West Country. Flushing has an unrivalled mild climate, streets lined with picture-postcard traditional terraced fisherman’s cottages, and beautiful unspoilt surrounding countryside.
There is also easy access onto some of the best sailing waters anywhere in the West Country, with the Helford River, the Fal Estuary, Falmouth Bay and Mylor Yacht Harbour all within reach. Flushing also has a Sailing Club that welcomes guests.
Even during the height of summer, Flushing provides a sense of peace and tranquility. With 2 friendly pubs, an excellent seafood restaurant, and a well-stocked shop, many of our guests choose to leave the car behind and enjoy a more traditional holiday - entertaining the kids crabbing, enjoying relaxed lunches by the water, and taking in the sea air on beautiful walks around the Fal River. A passenger ferry operates regularly over to Falmouth with its Maritime Museum, restaurants and independent shops and galleries. This also links up with other boats sailing to nearby St Mawes and the Helford River.
Many Cornish villages have become over crowded with tourists, but Flushing is much quieter, even during peak season, and it still benefits from a strong and vibrant community. The Flushing Regatta and Flushing Art Week are two annual fixtures not to be missed that the whole community embraces.
