We are in the middle of the "Golden Circle" Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot spring and Thingvellir national park, no traveller in Iceland should miss it. Not so far away is Dyrholaey and Vik with black sandy beaches, Skogarfoss waterfall, Seljalandsfoss waterfall and Jokulsarlon, to mention a few very popular sights. On the way to / from the airport is the Blue Lagoon.

The house is very well situated to see the northern lights, the season in Iceland runs from August through the very first days of May. These are the nights with darkness in them. The winter months are very good (there is definitely no shortage of darkness!). A mythbuster is that contrary to popular belief, it does not have to be cold to see the aurora, just dark and clear....and clear skies usually mean it's cold, hence the association between auroras and chilly nights.

Reykjavik is only 100km/160miles away with whale watching, museums, world fashion clothings, restaurants and nightlife (and more).

Iceland's nature is literally bursting with more energy than ever before and all the spectacular places are very close to The Viking Villa.

South Iceland is packed with amazing things to see and do – things that can really inspire and take your breath away.

Fludir

We are situated in heart of the Golden Circle, the magnificent and peaceful countryside in the South of Iceland. An excellent location, close to the friendly little village Fludir.
The area around Viking Villa is fine walking country and the adjacent Midfell mountain is easily accessible on foot and offers a magnificent panoramic view of the vicinity.

Only 1,5km (1mile) distance from:
Farmers market in the summer, greenhouses, geothermal swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and a gym.
Grocery shop, ATM, liquor-shop, 2-4 restaurants and a pub.
In about 4km distance:
2 golf courses, 18 hole Golf course + clubhouse/restaurant/pizzeria and a
9 hole golf course + clubhouse/restaurant.
Airfield for small air planes - Sightseeing flights available.
Close to salmon and trout fishing, horse riding and river rafting on Hvita river.

“Fantastic place - extraordinary country”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2013

I highly recommend this house to everyone who wants to visit south of Iceland. Location in Fludir is very convinient - it is very central to major attractions in the south of Iceland (within circle of 2h drive). House is very clean, warm, interior is nice (imported wood), decorated in "scandinavian style", beds comfortable, hosts are very hospitable.

“Just Amazing! It made the perfect start to 2013!”

Reviewed 18 Jan 2013

We arrived on New Years Day and stayed 3 nights, thank you so much to Inga and Maggnus for being so flexible with arrival times! This property is just amazing, comfortable and yet all the gadgets of modern living! The open fire was so perfect and made even better by the snow! Great bedrooms, plenty of space and very clean! This property was a home from home. We hope to visit again one day. We wish Inga and Maggnus a great 2013!

“Magnificent”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2012

This is a very attractive house in a great location. It's quiet, but on the edge of a village w/ supermarket, petrol station, farm stand etc. It's close to many of Iceland's most famous sights (and many less famous ones). Best of all, Inga and Maggnus are wonderful hosts: they're full of helpful suggestions and funny stories, responsive if you need something, but also respectful of your privacy.
