"Comodo e funzionale"
The apartment was roomy and met our needs. The location was good and about a 10 minute walk to the train station. A major street was just a block away and offered shops and restaurants. There was an excellent bakery and small grocery shops in the immediate area. The apartment contact was responsive, answered questions quickly and was willing to let us drop of our luggage early if necessary. We, however, had some difficulty with support during our stay. There was an atypical thunderstorm one day. The rain and wind were forceful enough to cause damage to a number of trees around Florence. When we returned to the apartment, I noticed that the upstairs bedroom skylight was open. It had either been left open during cleaning or perhaps the storm had forced it open. There was a puddle of water beneath the skylight. I cleaned up the water and looked for a device to close the skylight. The latch was well out of reach without using a pole or some other tool. This was now Friday afternoon around 4:30 pm. I called the contact number/person and asked if someone could come over and close the skylight. The phone connections were not always good and while we did speak, I wasn’t sure if we had ended the conversation or were cut off. So, I called back a little while later. I received a message that the number was inactive. My Italian is limited and I am not exactly sure what the message said but it was clear that the call wasn’t going through. I tried several times without connecting. Early Saturday morning, the rain was so heavy that it woke me. I found a large amount of water on the floor and it had seeped through the boards, onto the metal stairs and onto the first floor. I cleaned up as much as I could and found a container to put under the skylight. A significant amount of water was still coming in so (despite the early hour) I called the contact number. I woke someone up but they agreed to send someone over tomorrow. No one came. Although I continued to call, leave email messages throughout the week and even used the booking site to attempt to reach my original contact, no one ever came to the apartment. In one contact I was able to make, the person said someone would be over in 10 minutes but no one came. My biggest concern was for the water entering the apartment. The other concern was that the open skylight was letting mosquitos (or some other biting insects) in. Each morning, I woke with additional bites. I finally sprayed myself and the sheets with insect repellent to help prevent the bites. I would not advise friends to stay at the apartment only because if they had a problem, I fear they would not get any help. Otherwise, the apartment is fine.
