Enjoy the peace and tranquility of a holiday at our unique character gîte in this small ancient farming hamlet in Gascony. The stone built property is to be discovered in the stunning Gers countryside.

Take advantage of a 5 hectare leisure lake, situated 2km from the hamlet, with water sports, giant slides, sandy beaches, fishing, picnic areas and café/restaurant or simply sip your delicious French wine or Armagnac and partake of the many local specialities including melon, bayonne ham, pate, duck and fresh farm eggs in the beautiful surroundings.

The light filled gîte, built in the 16th century, was created by sympathetically joining a pigeonnier and separate barn to create a beautiful home which is enclosed by a warm, sun-drenched garden. The sliding folding doors provide a seamless transition between the house and the rich colours and hues outside.

The ground floor of the pigeonnier has a cosy living room which has a fireplace housing a wood burner used for heating the house in winter. The exposed stone sink and painted original beams of this large room is simply furnished with two comfortable sofas, dresser, satellite television with English Freeview channels, a DVD player, Playstation 2, Wii and a number of board games.

The central hub of our home, the kitchen is flooded with natural light from the sliding/folding doors and still retains exposed beams and stone walls. The kitchen contains facilities including a Rangemaster oven and gas hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine, kettle, toaster and filter coffee maker.

Adjoining the kitchen and overlooking the garden the dining room with an extendable dining table allowing for up to eight people has a range of painted furniture and access to wifi. The open tread staircase at the side leads to bedroom one. Overlooking the courtyard garden, this unenclosed open plan room is accessed from the dining room, and is furnished with a king size wrought iron bed, large painted double wardrobe, in-room bath and sink. There is also an en-suite WC. Accessed via the original wooden staircase from the living room, the pigeonnier bedroom overlooks the courtyard garden. It has a king size oak bed, chest of drawers, two wardrobes, table and chairs. There is also an open en-suite shower room, sink and toilet.

Located in the loft of the pigeonnier, this spacious bedroom can only be accessed via bedroom 2 and has restricted height within the eaves. It has a wrought iron double bed, a sofa bed and Velux windows allowing for ample natural light.

The courtyard garden provides the perfect setting for al fresco dining and for soaking up the sun. The tiled terracotta ground is surrounded by a wide variety of plants including ancient box trees, fig, hazelnut, palm and bamboo. Leading from this garden the grounds include a fascinating array of stone buildings, including pigsties, barn and historic ruins, which we hope to develop one day.

Guests are more than welcome to explore the grounds and outbuildings, but we would ask that you exercise close supervision if small children are in your party. The barn has a lawned area close to a terracotta tiled terrace with views of the undulating landscape toward Gramont.

The gorgeous Gers countryside lends itself to many sporting activities, but if you enjoy swimming then you really should take advantage of the five hectare leisure lake, situated 2km from the hamlet. A superb complex has been developed here, combining all the beauty of a natural environment with the fun and games of a sophisticated water park. This will really keep the children occupied, with its giant water slides and water sports, fishing, picnic areas, sandy beaches and café/ restaurant. Ideal for families, the lake has slides and safe areas for shallow paddling. The lake is open from the end of June to the end of August. Swimming is open to all age groups. Admission in 2012 was 3.50 Euros for adults and 2.50 Euros for children

Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

Naudin is in the department of Gers, forming the major part of the old historical region known as Gascony which has the highest concentration of bastide (defensible walled) villages in France. Unspoilt by motorways, mass tourism and major industry, it has a rich heritage, a rugged landscape, superb climate (hot, dry summers and cold winters), fantastic regional food (cheese, meat, vegetables, soft fruit) and wine (Cote de Gascon, Fonton, Gaillac and Tariquet)- not to mention aperitifs like Armangnac and Floc. We are surrounded by independent farmers, growing various produce including melons, apples and sunflowers, and are always happy to sell their own produce. Local people are friendly and welcoming.

Fleurance

Lectoure is our local market town and has everything from a range of food shops selling local produce, several boulangeries, two butchers, a weekly market on Friday, a charming two screen cinema, a renowned thermal spa, open air swimming pool, cafes and restaurants. There is also a supermarket and a very helpful Tourist Information Office.

Lectoure is designated a town of art and history by the French Minister for Cuture. Local artists regularly host exhibitions . There is a beautiful 13C cathedral of St Gervais and archaeological museum. Melon and other local festivals, including night markets, throughout the summer.

A little further away is La Romieu, which is an old ecclesiastical town girdled by great walls and moats; an imposing town with its majestic collegiate church, its lavishly ornate 16th century cloister and its cardinal tower. Spot the many sculpted cats on the façades of the houses in the Place des Arcades. The collegiate church is a must as inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO.

Festivals can be discovered throughout the area from March through to September, including Brass Bands in Condom, Country Music in Mirande, Tempo Latino in Vic Fezensac and of course the world famous Jazz Festival in Marciac.

Amongst others in the area, there is a golf club in Fleurance. Le "Golf de Fleurance" is classed in the top 20 premier 9 hole golf courses in France. The course is situated in the “bas Armagnac” region, based around a typical old 13th century farm and has natural difficulties such as oak and ash trees, a stream and bunkers.

For the more adventurous, you can find Hot Air Balloon rides, Horse Riding, Canoeing, Go-Karting, Quad Biking and Paint Balling within easy reach of our home.
