Location description from owner

The Grand Massif region

Grand Massif lies between Geneva and Mont Blanc. The skiing region Le Grand Massif within sight of the Mont-Blanc-peak lives up to its name and has reasons for being called the fourth largest winter sports region of the French Alps.Grand Massif has 265km of piste, 133 runs offering a variety of terrain for all levels, reliable snow cover and lack of queues. The area is blessed with one of the best snow records in the French Alps. The generous skiing region was created by merging the single skiing regions of the five stations Flaine, Les Carroz d'Araches, Samons, Morillon and Sixt Fer--Cheval, so that the slope network of Le Grand Massif now encompasses the entire mountain region North of the Mont Blanc.

Flaine

Flaine is a modern, car free resort. Services, shops and amenities are grouped together, only a few steps away from your accommodation. Fun activities, entertainment, bars & restaurants will keep you going after skiing and make your ski holiday unforgettable.
Flaine is characterized by the clear-cut Bauhaus style of the famous architect Marcel Breuer, who designed the skiing station on three levels and turned the forum in the city centre into a walk-in art exhibit with sculptures of Picasso and Vasarely
Next to the classic offer of winter hiking trails and snowshoe hikes, ice skating rinks and fitness centers in Flaine, Samoëns and Le Carroz, exceptional activities like Quad or GoKart driving on the ice, dog sledding tours, paragliding or a helicopter tour around the Mont Blanc are available.
Next to active and athletic highlights, the skiing region Le Grand Massif also has surprises waiting for art enthusiasts. Especially in Flaine, a broad cultural offer is part of everyday life, including numerous concerts and especially the centre of contemporary art, which opened in the city centre in the late seventies. Of course, the versatile Après-Ski-offers should also be mentioned, that invites you to end your ski day in the main village of the area with discotheques and bars.

“Wonderful appartment”

Reviewed 30 Jan 2013

We had a lovely week in this wonderful apartment. Me and my wife were accompanied by our grown son and two of our married friends. The apartment is large and allowed us the luxury of our own space when we required it as well as having a large communal area for socialising. The kitchen is a bit on the small side but adequate - although the ladies may require their high heels on to reach some of the cupboards. There is a beautiful view out of the windows and the complex's pool/hot tub are great after a days skiing. You can order fresh bread and croissants each morning and pick them up at the reception desk - we took full advantage. The property comes with two ski lockers so plenty of room for storing your ski gear. The ski bus service is very regular and the town is only a short walk away should you still be feeling fit. The ski in/ski out is good despite an 80 metre walk to get to the first incline. All in all this apartment suited us down to the ground.
