Location description from owner

The England region

Newquay has lots to offer all the family, from beautiful clean beaches to a superb zoo, from an aquarium to a varied night life. 46 Bredon Court is situated just above Fistral Beach - one of the best Cornish surfing beaches. You can book a surfing lesson at the British Surfing Association hut on the beach, and also hire surf boards, wet suits and body boards on the beach, or from many of the surf shops nearby. If surfing is not your thing, simply take a good book and a bottle of sun tan lotion with you and relax.

London is 300 miles while a bit closer to home the Cathedral city of Truro is just 15 miles. Well worth a visit is The Eden Project (16 miles) or take a trip to Land's End (42 miles). For some great fish restaurants then Padstow is just 15 miles.

Fistral Beach

46 Bredon Court is located next door to Newquay Golf Club, making it the ideal base if you love golf. The golf club is a links course with fabulous views over Fistral Beach and the Atlantic. An abundance of bunkers plus the ever-present wind associated with a links course. Springy sandy based turf on most holes making for easy walking and good drainage making the course playable all year round. A challenge for the best of golfers. The Apartment is open all year and is available for winter short breaks, Christmas, New Year and Easter.
New Year in Newquay deserves a special mention. Everyone turns out in fancy dress to enjoy the celebrations: locals and visitors alike. Festivities start early evening with children and their parents parading through Bank Street. There is street entertainment and markets. As the evening goes on people flock the streets and harbour side of Newquay virtually all in fancy dress, anything from Nuns to Harry Potter. The atmosphere is one of high excitement and fun.

Early August brings the Rip Curl Board Masters Surfing event to Newquay. The build up to the UK’s greatest surf, skate and music festival has begun. The official dates are confirmed to take place from the 5th – 9th August at the iconic Fistral Beach and scenic Watergate Bay in Newquay.

Fistral Beach will once again host the best in surf, skate and BMX competitions on the beach front topped off with live music every night in the crowd pleasing Beach Bar. All this while the cliff tops of Watergate Bay host the 2 day music festival with a highly anticipated line up covering 3 stages.

Over the August Bank Holiday, Lusty Glaze Beach is host to the Beach Rugby Festival. Beach Rugby is a fun and friendly tag rugby game played on the beach. Pioneered at Lusty Glaze beach in Cornwall, the game is now played in a nationwide series of events supported by the Rugby Football Union (RFU).

Early September Crantock has been the venue for the annual Big Bale Push. This competition has raised over £24,000 for key charities close to the heart of the local community.

The Big Bale Push is a fun event for all ages. The races are run in teams of four pushing a full-sized round bale of straw weighing approximately 420 lbs and measuring 4’ 6” in diameter over courses of differing length according to the class of race. The main course for the “180 veterans”, and “The Open” is run over a full quarter of a mile through the village, both up and down hill, starting and finishing between the two village pubs - “The Cornishman” and “The Old Albion” . www.crantockbalepush.com

“An absolute amazing find”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2016

Excellent, quiet location, walking to beaches and town easy. Would recommend Belushi's in town for food, and Little Italy and Gilmore's walking distance from apartment towards Headland. For a less crowded surf or body board, go to the far end of Fistral, 15 minute walk max.

Hi Lynda, Many thanks for your review, we really appreciate your comments. We tried Gilmore's at the weekend and had a fabulous lunch, so glad you enjoyed it too. A great find away from the town crowds. Thank you for reviewing our apartment and enjoying our beautiful town. Regards Dawn and Gerry
