Location description from owner

The Wales region

Pembrokeshire coast is the no.2 worldwide coastal destination according to the National Geographic magazine.
It is wonderful walking with spectacular views. The cliffs are carpeted with flowers in spring and baby seals may be seen in the coves in the autumn.

The area is excellent for bird watching. It is fascinating to watch the pattern of migrating birds in the autumn. The RSPB islands of Ramsey Island and Skomer make an exciting day trip..

The Botanic Gardens of Wales are beautiful and make an interesting day out.

Fishguard

There is a Sports Centre in Fishguard with a first class swimming pool and tennis courts. There are historic places to visit such as the many castles dotted along the coast. The Welsh Wildlife Centre is located near Cardigan. Castel Henllys, as seen on TV, is nearby. Oakwood Adventure Park appeals to children. Fishguard has an annual Music Festival. The historic cathedral town of St. Davids of approx 15 kms away. Gardeners must not miss a visit to the National Botanic Gardens near Carmarthen

The adventurous can try Coasteering which is a mixture of swimming, scrambling and climbing around the coast. There is good surfing at Whitesands.

There is an excellent chef nearby who caters for the cottages. Groceries can be delivered. There are many good restaurants in the area such as the award winning Cwtch in St. Davids or try delicious fish and chips at the Shed in Porthgain where it is memorable to have a take-away sitting on the harbour wall.

It is also possible to take a day trip to Ireland.

“Quiet location with wonderful views & grounds but the cottage needs a refurb”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2016

This cottage is prefect if you like walking and want to stay somewhere remote, quiet with wonderful countryside surrounding. The cottage looks beautiful from the outside but we were very disappointed with the interior, dated and very much in need of a refurbishment. The biggest issue we had was the lack of a shower, the cottage has 2 separate bathrooms both with a bath but no combi boiler meant one tank of hot water each morning which barely filled one bath so it was back to a standing wash in the bath everyday for 3 adults and a 5yr old. Not ideal after a day at the beach having to then wait over an hour to boost the hot water which still barely covered a quarter of the bath. Home now and feeling back to normal after our first shower of the week. Tiny kitchen no dishwasher was hard to find room to cater for a family, again all quite old equipment and not really a home from home. Dated furniture and bedding I felt like I stepped into an old ladies house from the 80's, pixelating tv spoilt our evening entertainment on the small tv. My final moan about this property which cost no small fee of £850, was it was not clean, smelt fusty in the main bedroom and living room and cobwebs and spiders were a plenty, we moved the cot to one side in the twin bedroom to make some play room for our 5yr old and was horrified to see muck, dead flies and dead bugs Disappointed and we won't be one of the 60% advertised as returners

I am sad that these visitors did not appreciate the ambience of valuable antique furniture. The cottage was decorated and new carpets fitted over the winter. Sadly they left the kitchen in a considerable mess including a new cooker in a very dirty state. It is inevitable that cobwebs occur overnight in old stone cottages. This is our first poor review in many years of letting and I hope it will not deter future visitors.

“An very enjoyable stay with beautiful location”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2011

The situation of the cottage is quite remote - but the views and the location more than make up for that. Everything needed is at the cottage and the owners very helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay.
