Description from owner

Description

Church Steps is an idyllic thatched cottage, overlooking the village green in the tiny hamlet of Fisherton de la Mere, on the banks of the River Wylye. This tucked-away community, consisting of just a few cottages, a mill house and an ancient 14th century church, is a real haven in the Wiltshire countryside yet is only a few minutes from the main route from London to the West Country.

Further details indoors

Built of local limestone under a thatched roof, Church Steps has been lovingly restored and both its chocolate-box exterior and well presented interior make this a highly desirable retreat for a few days' break or an extended holiday.

The cottage is approached across the green and up stone steps to the entrance at the end of the cottage. Double height, well-lit, fitted kitchen with integral appliances. Long sitting room with oak floor, large inglenook containing a woodburner and a dining area at the other end of the room. Carpeted stairs to the first floor

Location description from owner

The Wiltshire region

Church Steps is ideally located for exploring the almost limitless attractions available in this beautiful part of southern England; the cathedral city of Salisbury, Stonehenge, Stourhead, Longleat, the World Heritage city of Bath and The New Forest National Park are all within 45 minutes' drive, while the South Dorset Jurassic coastline is within easy reach for a day's outing.

The Wylye Valley itself offers some stunning countryside and the multitude of footpaths, bridleways and cycleways are a rewarding way to discover its picturesque villages, many with welcoming country pubs. Immediately accessible from the cottage is a footpath along the river, which will take you to the attractive village of Wylye, where you might wish to stop off at The Bell Inn. For keen fishermen, half a mile of private fly fishing on the Wylye is available – full details can be provided on request.

For shopping, Salisbury, with its ancient charter market, is 12 miles away and there are several good farm shops in the vicinity.
