Location description from owner

The Ionian Islands region

Kefalonia is located on the West coast of Greece, and has a mild climate along with excellent beaches. The island of Kefalonia has escaped mass tourism and recently was used to film Captain Corelli's Mandolin, set in war-time Kefalonia. The film, with Nikolas Cage, was a huge success and it put Kefalonia firmly on the 'must visit' list of destinations.

Fiscardo

At only 2,7km from the villa, Fiskardo is a beautiful, picturesque Greek fishing village. With its waterfront tavernas and bars, is simply a delight. A strict building regulations has maintained the elegance of the Venetian architecture. Traditional Kefalonian fishing boats moor alongside the more extravagant temporary visitors during the summer. A stroll around the harbour will showcase some of the most luxurious yachts, many of whom are owned by the rich and famous who are attracted to Kefalonia by the charm and tranquility of Fiskardo. Fiskardo at night takes on an entirely different perspective: the lights, the old buildings, cafes, bars and restaurants all combine to provide a magical Mediterranean atmosphere. The place to be.

“Lovely villa with fantastic views”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2015

Villa Helios is a 5-10 minute drive from Fiscardo which makes it a great base to explore the village and surrounding area. The villa is smart and very comfortable. It also had a really nice feel and we immediately felt chilled and relaxed. The villa was very clean and everything worked well (including the dishwasher, washing machine, air conditioning and wifi). Catherine was incredibly helpful and made the booking process a breeze. She also provided some really helpful information on restaurants and things to do. We had a fantastic week in the villa and would highly recommend.

“Have to work whilst on holiday? Try Office Helios!!”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2015

If you have to do some office work whilst on holiday as I did, then having a great view from my holiday 'workstation' on the rear patio under the awning across the pool and the Ionian Sea to Ithica takes some of the annoyance away!! A cold beer also helps..... Great villa, very mellow local environment, first class pool - and good internet connection for work! Booking easy & well managed by Catherine Marmet, booking manager.

Happy that you found the perfect setting for a mix of work and relax! Thank you for your nice words. Catherine.

“Lovely villa with fantastic views and the orchestra of goat bells among the trees.”

Reviewed 22 Jun 2015

The villa is exactly as the photos show on the internet, and is comfortable both outside and inside, which is unusual for a villa in the sun. Clean as a whistle and serviced twice during our 10 day stay which we were not expecting. The patio and infinity pool have fantastic views over Ithaka with a constant change of colour - beautiful. We had a great holiday in the villa and found everyone we met on Kefalonia very friendly and helpful. Our ONLY negative feedback for us as a group (which may not be a negative for others) would be that it is too far out of Fiskardo to walk into town on a casual basis - some 4 km according to the local taxi service; which by the way is excellent so they saved the day!

Thank you for your nice words. I'm glad that you love the house and our beautiful area. By the way, I believe that the local taxi had a wrong taximeter ! 3 km to Fiscardo is the exact distance, and even less ! On the way back, 1 km is flat, and 2 km uphill, that's the point!

“Beautiful villa with lovely views in a great location”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2015

We have just come back from a 10 night stay at Villa Helios and can highly recommend it. The location is perfect with stunning views out over the sea and across to Ithaca. It is set up a hillside amongst the trees and is very peaceful and quiet. it's about an hour and a half drive north from the airport. The villa itself is very light, spacious and comfortable and has everything you need. The master bedroom is on the top floor and has balcony looking out on the beautiful view. The pool is superb and a perfect size to swim properly every day, or just to use for a quick dip to cool off. Plenty of outdoor space and enough sunbeds and comfy furniture so you can be out in the sun or in the shade whenever you want. Fiscardo is a 5 or 10 minute drive away (depending on which road you take) and has many restaurants, cafes and bars and a big supermarket. There are a few walks you can take from the town – long or short depending on how energetic you feel. The village of Maganos is closer and has a couple of tavernas and a supermarket. Myrtos Beach and Assos town are both in easy reach. Booking was very easy and all done by email with the manager,Catherine, who was really quick and efficient every time I emailed her with questions. She also provided very helpful directions and tips about places to visit in the surrounding area.

Thank you for your wonderful comment. Cypress forest and olive trees are expecting you next visit ! Catherine

“Idyllic”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2015

Villa Helios is wonderful. Perfect situation with gorgeous views (photos don't really do it justice), spacious and well equipped. A short drive to lovely unspoilt Fiscardo and lots of beautiful beaches nearby. Excellent, clearly waymarked hikes in the vicinity for keen walkers. We had a great holiday and I would highly recommend for anyone wanting to escape the rat race.

Thank you very much! I believe we have to shoot new pictures to do justice to the beauty of the place! Catherine

“Idyllic hilltop villa with incredible views”

Reviewed 9 May 2015

The villa met our needs perfectly. Fiskardo is by far the prettiest town we came across with plenty of nice restaurants to choose from. The view from the pool terrace was one of the biggest draws and having wifi and an ipod dock made for nice little touches. Nearby Foki Beach and some beautiful walks made for nice things to do. We also hired a boat from Fiskardo which was a great way to bay-hop and see nearby Ithaca. Our villa contact had given us loads of useful tips about the local area: eating, beaches, footpaths, things to do which proved invaluable and she was only a phone call away if we needed anything. Everything was provided: linen, soap, toilet roll. Bar food we barely needed to buy anything extra. We definitely needed the car though. Nothing is in walking distance (villa is built on a hill). Fiskardo, for example, is a 10min drive away. We went just as the season had begun and restaurants had only recently opened up. We loved the quietness but Fiskardo in high season had the capacity to be a much busier and livelier place. We thoroughly recommend this villa!

Thank you for your nice words. Looking forward to welcome you again in the cypress hill. Catherine, villa manager

“Beautiful villa & views”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2014

The photos on the website do not do this villa justice - it is very comfortable, well furnished, amazing views and in a good location. It is not far from the village shop and Fiskardo. Catherine, the manager, is super efficient and very helpful - always there to help and answer your questions. Our only disappointment was the BBQ is situated at the back of the villa. I would be happy booking this villa again.

Thank you very much for your nice words!

“De parfaites vacances dans une villa parfaite”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2014

“Beautiful location, fantastic villa, great holiday.”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2012

We stayed in Villa Helios as a group of 7 friends and were very impressed by the stunning location of the villa. It is set perched in the hills with a fantastic view from the infinity pool. The villa itself was finished beautifully, very comfortable and there were enough sun loungers for each of us which was much appreciated! There are plenty of gorgeous small beaches nearby (if you can drag yourself away from the villa- not easy!). We also hired a yacht with a skipper for a day (details provided by Catherine) which was definietly one of the highlights of the trip and I would thoroughly recommend it. We had an absolutely amazing holiday and I would highly recommend the villa to anyone. It had everything we wanted. Thank you!
