Our elevated log chalet is fitted to the highest specification accommodating 4/6 guests. Relax on your own private balcony with valley views, on a mountain hillside & discover what its like to hear nothing but the comforting peal of bells from the quaint village church or birdsong, a cuckoo or a woodpecker in the woods just 20ft away. The night sky is something to behold as we have no light pollution and on a clear night the stars are brighter than any I have ever seen. Very few cars pass our chalet (about 5 per day) and the peace and serenity is rare in the busy world we live in today. This idyllic mountain location will leave you rested and invigorated, ready to face anything.
There is an entrance lobby (with underfloor heating in winter), two double bedrooms, sofa bed, two bathrooms (with underfloor heating during winter), a fully fitted kitchen, a comfortable lounge with a 37" flat screen, dvd player and an ipod docking station. The garden and delightfully sunny winter garden / dining area (underfloor heating during winter) overlooks an uninterrupted mountain landscape and a complimentary welcome basket is in your chalet on arrival.
Perfectly situated for summer holidays, Filzmoos offers a weekly program of events including organised walks and hikes of varying difficulty to suit all abilities, including children, challenging hills for mountain bikes or electric bikes for the less sporty. The Wanderbus does a loop of the surrounding area so you can jump on and off wherever the fancy takes you. Filzmoos brass band plays in the village square every Friday evening ( weather permitting) and if you enjoy really good food (but not silly prices) we have several, excellent restaurants including 'The Hubertus' a 2 Michelin star, The Reithof specialising in their own organic beef and many more all within walking distance.

The Salzburg Region
A traditional, pretty village perfect for families/ friends set amidst magnificent scenery at the foot of the Bischofsmutze mountain and Dachstein glacier, Filzmoos attracts guests who are looking for a typical Austrian village with many facilities close at hand. During the winter Filzmoos becomes a winter wonderland with uncluttered pistes and little or no queuing at the chair lifts – a rare commodity on the slopes these days.
There is plenty of space to roam with something to satisfy everyone from beginners to the more challenging run of Papageno, which boasts a six-person gondola giving access to marvellous descents directly down the village. The village is the heart of the community with the nursery slope and the children’s ski school being at the very centre.
In summer Filzmoos becomes a paradise for walkers, mountain bikers and anyone who enjoys being in the fresh alpine air. There is a large network of walking trails suitable for all abilities and ages with over 200km of footpaths with classified blue, red and black routes. Mountain bikers looking for a thrill can enjoy hundreds of challenging downhills or families of varying age and abilities can enjoy the easier trails on bike or foot.
You can also enjoy mountain biking, climbing, horse riding, visit the championship golf course at Schladming or visit the leisure centre with indoor & outdoor pool, health suite and two bowling lanes situated in the village. A new Thermal Spa in nearby Altenmarkt (15 mins drive) offers a fabulous day out. It has fast slides, a wave pool and indoor/outdoor relaxing areas for the whole family to enjoy. Mom or dad could treat themselves to a mud wrap or one of the many other treatments they have on offer. At nearby Dachstein you might be interested in paragliding and rafting or summer skiing on the glacier. There are also tennis courts and horse riding nearby.
There are many local places of interest to visit including the following:-
*Worlds largest Ice Caves at Werfen - www.eisriesenwelt.at (25 mins drive)
*Hohenwerfen Castle - a Medieval Fortress & falconry centre with daily displays (25 mins drive). Filming was done here for 'Where Eagles Dare'
*Eagles Nest ( Hitlers retreat - 45 mins drive) www.eagles-nest-historical-tours.com
*A daily guided walking programme based on a rolling two week programme is available with local experienced mountain guides, as part of a group or a private guide can be hired to meet your own personal requirements. www.filzmoos-aktiv
*The romantic City of Salzburg with many attractions i.e.- Castle, Sound of Music Tour, Museums and many more (50 mins drive).
*Championship golf course at Schladming (25 mins drive)
The chalets are situated on a quiet hillside approx 20 min walk from the centre of the village. A shortcut takes 10 mins max but is quite steep. It is opposite a large wooded area with farmland to the rear - perfect for peace, quite and relaxation. A car would be useful but the walk to the village is very pleasant and not difficult and takes in some breath taking views on the way. A ski bus stops 100 meters from the chalets which collects and drops off at various points in the village. The bus runs every hour from 9am – 5pm, every day except Saturday. During summer there is a 'Wanderbus' that collects at the same point and does a route of the surrounding area and allows you to hop on and off at various points depending on your energy levels.
Filzmoos is famous for its food and offers fantastic restaurants with prices to suit every budget. There are 2 good pizza restaurants in the village and the Hanneshof do a great spag bol for €8. The 'Hubertus Hotel' has 2 Michelin stars and a very good reputation, but you need to book early. The 'Jagdhof' is situated on the mini island in the middle of the village and is a lovely treat. Happy Filzmoos is great for lunch or dinner and during winter is a hub of activity and the place to go for 'Apres' from 4-6pm and the 'Winepries' offers superb Asian cuisine in a contemporary setting. The Erlbacher Gerhard is famous for miles around for its rack of ribs. For €14.95 you get a rack (and a few more) baked potato/corn on the cob or garlic bread - you wont be disappointed! A fabulous coffee shop run by Gaby is situated by the mini island in the centre of the village and serves fantastic coffee, hot chocolate, apple strudel and much more. You can also buy fresh locally baked bread and croissants daily.
The indoor/outdoor pool/sauna centre with 2 bowling lanes is behind 'Happy Filzmoos' and well worth a visit as is the local farm which makes home made ice cream where you can watch the farm cows being milked on a Tuesday afternoon - check all local attractions with the excellent tourist board situated in the centre of the village.
Every Friday evening (weather permitting) Filzmoos brass band march proudly up the high street and settle in the beautiful band stand in the village square. Once a month local school children also provide a display of dancing to the brass band in their traditional Austrian costumes - Filzmoos works very hard to provide its guests with a holiday they will never forget!
During summer you will see/hear a lovely ritual behind the chalets. Every morning approx 8am the farmer behind our properties leads his 5 cows along a path to a gate, which he lets his cattle through, and they disappear for the day into the woods or wherever their fancy takes them. Last year there was a calf born in the woods but i think the farmer was a little surprised by an early delivery! From 4pm onwards you can hear a cow bell accompanied by mooing as they make their way home after a hard day of chewing the cud. They cross the road and wait outside the gate until the farmer or one of the family come and let them through to go home for their supper and bed!!!
During January, Filzmoos hosts the International Ballooning Festival which is an amazing sight - well worth a visit. Please visit the tourist board and speak to Heather (English speaking) and she will give you any information you need and advice on all activities taking place during your stay.
There are nursery facilities for children at the Filzmoos Ski School.

Arriving to House Ebner was as entering a beautiful book. The house including everything that was offered with it was a joy. It was nice and clean, and cleaning tools were left in the house as well. The lunch area was a special place for us for a early morning coffee on fresh air. Kids loved playing in the snow even late at night since it is safe. The owners were very helpful and always there for us. We got great instructions from Debborah that included everything from driving instructions, restaurant and coffee shop suggestions, places to visit, you name it it was on the list. We will definitely come back and "recharge" our batteries!

"A well equiped and comfortable chalet in a great location."
The chalet was warm and comfortable and came equiped with all the modern conveniences including a large TV with a DVD collection for both children and adults. The location is just out of town in a quiet wooded area. There was a lot of snow but access to the chalet was maintained regularly by a snow plough. (snow chains are still essential!) My partner and I stayed with our 3 children and we all had a great time. For such a small resort Filzmoos has a lot to offer and I'd recommend the resort and this chalet for anyone with children.

"Can't wait to go back."
Stunning accomadation in a log cabin a real home from home. My partner and I along with my sister, her partner and toddler were lucky enough to discover this gem of a ski cabin in Feb this year. From our first contact with the owner Debbie via email we could not have been better looked after- she did everything she said she would, emailed promptly & sent detailed guest instructions with directions to the chalet & lots of local information. This put our minds at rest especially as this was our first time to this area skiing especially with a 3yr old. We walked in & the standard of accomadation was incredible with everything that you would want at home - infact it was like being at home but better!!. It was lovely to come back after a day skiing/sledging & be able to relax, have a meal & drink, watch a dvd & go to bed. We prefer a chalet to a guest house as it is more relaxed & you have loads of space- not limited to a couple of rooms. Filzmoos was fabulous & had something for everyone very safe for children - great sledging, and the uncluttered slopes even down to a nightclub which was open till 4am- never any sign of trouble just people of all ages enjoying themselves. We all had a lovely holiday and will definitely be returning in the near future.
Filzmoos really does have something for everyone whatever your age from brilliant children's ski schools and toboggan runs to great apres and a nightclub open until 4am if you want to party. Our chalets really are 'home from home' as our whole family use them and i would never expect guests to stay in anything that was less comfortable than their own home!
