“cute loft apartment in old town, but troubles with sofa bed”

Reviewed 3 Jul 2016

This is a very cute apartment in the loft of a historic old building in the old town of Figeac, in a great central location. The apartment has been nicely renovated and also retains the charms of the original building,Mitch its exposed beams, etc. However, if you require two beds, many need to use the sofa bed, as we did, I cannot recommend it in its current condition. When we arrived, David's local agent Sylvette (who only speaks French), let us in but was in a rush to go, as it was a Sunday, so we didn't set up the sofa bed until later. Unfortunately when we tried to pull it out,nit got absolutely jammed fast, and we could not move it in or out despite our best efforts, so it was unusable as either a bed or couch. We called Sylvette but she would not come back, and told use to call David. David could not provide any helpful advice on how to fix the bed that night, so I ended up sleeping on cushions piled on the floor the first night. David did arrange for someone to come the next day, who has used the sofa bed before, but she could not unjam it, and said they had had troubles with it before, but never do bad. Finally that afternoon, Sylvette returned with a friend, and the two of them managed to pull out the bed by brute force, so we kept it out as a bed for the rest of our stay, so that it wouldn't get jammed again. This of course meant that the living room was taken up by the bed during the day, with us also having to sit on the bed as the couch. David did try and assist us as much as possible from the end of the telephone in another country, and I realise this is on of the risks when renting a place where the owner is in a different country. He also did offer us a full refund for the night which we were unable to use the bed. If you only need one double bed, I would be happy to recommend this apartment, as it is a great location in the heart of the old town, and has lots of character. However, if you need two beds, while the current sofa bed is in place, I would not recommend staying here, due to the sofa bed having to be presumably set up prior to arrival, and left set up for the entire stay, so the lounge is crowded and you don't have access to a proper couch. Instructions on how to operate the tv would also have been helpful, and there was no hairdryer. Also note that there is no wifi in the apartment, and mobile data signal was intermittent.

“Excellent, up-to-date accommodation in a superb location close to fine selection of resturants and bars.”

A modern appartment located in the heart of the historic centre of a beautiful, medieval town in the Lot valley. The appartment was spotless and furnished to a high standard with all the facilities necessary for a super-comfortable stay and the additional convenience of a balcony. Unlike some French towns, Figeac has the added bonus of a fairly lively night-life with a fine selection of restaurants and bars only a stride from the appartment! A coffee for breakfast and a wine in the evening in the atmospheric Place Champollion is a relaxed way to start and end the day. Figeac is surrounded by the most stunning French countryside near the confluence of 3 river valleys with an abundance of delightful medieval towns to explore.

“great location, great value”

Very well-appointed apt. It is up 3 flights so not for the disabled. Really superb location and has off-street parking. Good restaurants close by. Highly recommend.
