Location description from owner

The England region

Cornwall is at the extreme Western point of England. There is scenery for all tastes. Green, rolling hills, multi-coloured farm squares, sea views and stunning beaches.

What to do in Cornwall: Surfing, Golf, Sailing on the Fal, Fishing, Cycling. In addition, local days out can include: Bodmin and Wexford Railway, Camel Trail, China Clay Museum, Eden Project, Flambards Adventure Park, Goonhilly Earth Station, Holywell Bay Fun Park, Lost gardens of Heligan, Lappa Valley Steam Railway, Newquay Water Park, Padstow and Rick Steins restaurants, Poldark Tin Mine, St Michaels Mount, Tate St Ives, The National Seal Sanctuary, Pubs and Eating, Cornwall is an excellent place to eat and drink. It has everything from the local Cornish pasty (available everywhere!) through to award winning restaurants, such as Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver. The National Trust own many beaches, gardens and houses in Cornwall.

Feock

The small village of Feock lies right on the shore of the river Fal, and at the head of the Carrick Roads. Feock is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It can be reached from the Truro/Falmouth road or across the river and the Roseland by the King Harry Ferry. During the winter a fleet of oyster boats work this area around Restronguet Point and can be watched from the shore at Loe Beach. The mild climate in South Cornwall invites holidays all year round. Many of our visitors prefer to come outside high season when it is less busy and the cost is much lower. The South Coasts offers a softer, more Mediterranean climate than the North Coast. Feock is close to the King Harry Ferry which gives you easy access to the pretty village of St Mawes and the magical Roseland Peninsula. There are some delicious restaurants with great locations all within easy access, either by road or by water. Examples are the Pandora Inn, The Three Mackerel, The Sticky Prawn. Nearer to Feock, the Punchbowl & Ladle offers great food and a great range of Cornish Beers – within stout walking distance in Penelewey. The lovely Cathedral city of Truro is only 5 miles away –there is even a local bus service. Falmouth, only 9 miles away, can be easily reached by road or public transport. There are local convenience stores at Playing Place and Carnon Downs, complete with Post Offices. Within 5 miles you have a choice of Sainsbury, Tesco and Asda. But you won’t need them as you’ll be sampling the fantastic restaurants we have in South Cornwall!

“A fabulous bungalow with views of Pill Creek”

Reviewed 5 Nov 2015

It is with some reservation that I write this review ..... not because this property is anything other than fabulous, but selfishly, because if everyone knows just how good it is, I might struggle to book it in future ! The Meadows bungalow is just as the photos on the website show - very well appointed and equipped, warm (we went in early October) , spacious and with the most marvellous views of Pill Creek and the Carrick Roads. I always think the sign of a good holiday home is comfortable sofas and comfy beds - this property does not disappoint. All mod cons include a dishwasher, free wifi, good TV DVD player etc - in fact a real home from home. My mum, who has reduced mobility found the bungalow ideal for her needs and the property also accepts dogs which meant we could take our jack russell on holiday too. The fact hat is has such wonderful views means that you really don't need to move far if you don't wish to. Just watching the tide ebb and flow and the boats bobbing outside our window was so restful. Situated along a quiet lane, there is also plenty of wildlife - we had pheasants regularly visit us in the back garden and could hear the hoot of owls at night. If you like stargazing, there is very little light pollution here and we saw some fantastic night skies. The large wrap around wooden balcony and outside furniture would be a real sun trap in warmer weather. Although we didn't avail ourselves of the private mooring, there is a pathway (quite steep) down to the creek where you can launch a small boat. Although this pathway has a steel gate, anyone with young children would possibly need to keep a close eye on them to ensure they do not attempt to go down there. The property is just along the road from King Harry Ferry and Trelissick Gardens, with Truro just a few miles along the road for shopping and provisions etc. I really cannot fault The Meadows and we very much hope to return in future.

“Cornish Heaven”

Reviewed 5 Feb 2013

This wonderful bungalow really is heaven on earth. Very Peaceful location, all on one level, which was ideal for our elderly mum. It is extremely well appointed, and the views are amazing. It was spotlessly clean, and warm - with a welcoming tray. Within easy reach of Truro. A car is essential. Feock is a charming village, very quiet, but with no Pub or Shop. We spent two weeks here in January, and have re-booked for two weeks in May. Can't wait!
