Description

Lavender Cottage is a traditional Victorian cottage which has been renovated to a high standard and provides a perfect base for exploring the North Cotswolds, Stratford-on-Avon, Oxford and Warwick Castle.

There is a large sitting room with original cast iron oven and fireplace - great for cosy evenings if you are visiting in the cooler months. The characterful kitchen/diner overlooks fields so you can watch the cows come home whilst at the sink! There is a small sun room overlooking the garden.

There are three bedrooms ( king-size, twin and single) all beautifully decorated in English country style. All bedrooms and bathroom have beams and overlook fields or thatched cottages. The luxury bathroom has a roll-top bath - great for relaxing after a long day's sightseeing. The large separate shower is lined with travertine tiles and the bathroom marble floor has underfloor heating.

We regret we do not accept pets.

For our little guests we provide a travel cot (guests to bring cot linen), socket covers, highcair and safety gate.

We provide a "Welcome" tray on arrival.

Sitting room - original cast iron fireplace and bread oven with exposed brick fireplace, seating for 5 including two lovely new sofas. Writing desk, TV ,DVD. Solid oak flooring. Stiars to first floor.

Sun room - overlooks the garden and fields and is a lovely spot for morning coffee. Table and two chairs, door to garden.

Kitchen/diner - decorated in country-style with a pine dresser, table and chairs, oak island unit, stone floor. The kitchen is well equipped and has a butler sink. Stable door leading to the garden. There is a step up from the sitting room.

Bedrooms - all have beams and are decorated with pretty curtains and fresh bedlinen. The single rear bedroom overlooks fields and the king-size and twin bedrooms overlook thatched cottages. All have wardrobes and shelves,two have additional Lloyd Loom seats. The main bedroom also has a pretty antique writing desk/dressing table.
Bathroom - luxuriously furnished with a roll-top bath, large separate shower with travertine tiles ,marble floor with cosy underfloor heating.

The front garden has a bench where you can sit and catch the sun and watch village life pass by ( including the local donkey being taken for a walk!). The rear garden overlooks fields with cows and sheep. There is a lawned area and box-edged flower beds either side of a beautiful arbour where you can sit with a glass of wine or morning coffee. Tables and chairs for 6,sun umbrella and barbeque provided.

Parking on the cottage driveway is available for one car. Onstreet parking is available for guests with two cars but this may not always be directly in front of the cottage.

Getting around

A car is needed. For guests wishing to visit London there is very quick rail access ( 1 hr 15 mins. ) by train from Banbury.

Interaction with guest

We live in the neighbouring village so are always on hand when we are at home to assist our guests as needed. When away from home we are just at the end of a phone call, text or email. We provide tourist information at the cottage and are always happy to help guests with local recommendations.

“Lovely cottage”

Lovely, comfortable well equipped cottage - just as described and shown in photos. Quiet location win fields to the rear and very easy to find. We visited Coventry, Stratford upon Avon and Bicester Shopping Village by car with ease during our short stay. Lovely pub in nearby Warmington. Hosts were very welcoming.

“Perfect English countryside cottage”

I traveled with my partner and three children (11,13,15) from New York, USA to Lavendar Cottage. The cottage was adorable and clean with everything we needed. My oldest was thrilled to have wi-fi! We loved sitting out in the garden in the evenings. Terry was a super-friendly and helpful host, there when we arrived and responded quickly when we had a question. The village of Farnborough was charming and we enjoyed a service at the village church. The town of Banbury is nearby for shopping, with a 24 hour Tesco. The Wharf Inn was a great meal. Sightseeing in the Midlands was a breeze from Farnborough. We loved our vacation here and can't wait to return!

For four days we enjoyed a very clean and tidy stay. The owner were very friendly and helpful. The place was amazing a way from the busy cities life and srrounded by many good places to visit. Moreover, the kids enjoyed seing the farm animals. Strongly I recommend it.

We stayed for one week in Lavender cottage. The village and the cottage gave us "Peace of mind". The accomodation was very good and the inn close "to home". You need a car to get to the village, but then you don't need it every day. The bus service runs twice, but if you don't want to return in the afternoon you can do like we did....take a taxi cost of 15-16 pound.

Character cottage, with all mod cons. Tastefully furnished. Well equipped. Sweet garden with beautiful views over fields. Delicious, quality pub food literally over the road. Children's playground nearby. We found it very comfortable and homely. The owners welcomed us in person and were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this property to friends.

Lavender Cottage is beautifully furnished and very well equipped. The location is excellent with many good walks from the village of Farnborough itself. Across the road is a gastropub that serves delicious food and has wifi. There is plenty to do locally. There are several National Trust properties, The National Herb Centre, Stratford Upon Avon, Warwick and Banbury are all nearby. We had a lovely holiday!
