From the owner

This house is rented Saturday to Saturday, guests can arrive and leave anytime within the rented period.

A large rustic house, originally a stable which was part of the Chateau and Estate of Argoules to rent on a weekly basis,Saturday to Saturday, although guests can arrive and leave anytime within that week booked.

The house is set in a courtyard which was the original hunting lodge for the Chateau. Alongside the house are the original kennels and coach house.

It is situated in a quite sleepy historic village overlooking the village green, opposite the Auberge du Grosse Tilleau, where many guests dine during their stay.

If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, tranquil place to stay this is it, a bird lovers paradise.

Former guests have sat out in the late evenings to watch the owls fly off to hunt, return with their catch for their chicks. If you are very quite, you can hear the chicks screeching in the tower. Also in the evenings the courtyard is a buzz with bats flying about catching insects. If you are very still you may encounter the resident hedgehog doing his nightly prowl looking for food.

During the day many different birds come to feed, while others nest in the surrounding buildings. The property has a pair of resident woodpeckers and a couple of pairs of wrens. Relax on a lounger, close your eyes and listen to the chorus of birdsong, just amazing.

It is in the historic region of Picardie in the Somme and is easy to visit WW1 & WW2 site, about one hours drive from the tunnel and the port of Calais. It is within easy reach of the battlefields and historical sites at Arras, Albert, and Vimy Ridge. Paris is, approximately, a two hour drive or can easily be reached by train from the local station in Rue.

Ground Floor

Bedroom:

On the ground floor there is a large double bedroom with a super-king size bed, a bathroom and a seperate toilet.

The design of the house almost lends itself to have two separate sleeping arrangements, making it ideal for extended family vacations. The ground floor sleeping accommodation is separate and quite. Also to add to this tranquility is the fact that the ground floor sleeping accommodation is single story, without a storey above it. Thus making it ideal for grandparents sharing a family holiday.

Kitchen:

The kitchen is large country style. It is furnished with conduction hob, electric oven, dish washer, microwave, and is very well equipped for cooking. there is also a washing machine in the house and a plug in electric clothes dryer.

Sitting Room:

A very large room with double aspect making it very bright and airy.

It is furnished with enough seating for 8 people and has a large wood burner

The formal dining area has seating for 8 people and we have 2 high chairs available.

Summer Room:

This is also a second quite sitting area on the half landing, which leads onto a private sun terrace.

Upper Floor

3 bedrooms one of which is a double, the other two are twin rooms. The second of the twin rooms has day beds, which are suitable for adults or children.

Large and bright bathroom with two wash basins and a large shower cubicle.

Separate toilet.

More About the house:

The house is no smoking indoors but there is provision for smokers outside.

It is a great place for friends or families to celebrate special birthdays, anniversaries, engagements or just general get togethers.

Many people use it as a base to visit Family in the UK, when holidaying from far flung fields such as Australia and Canada, also many relatives from UK come to visit family who are holidaying or doing some searches here for lost relatives from the wars.

The Village:

The village has many circular walks ranging from 25 minutes to 2 hrs or longer if so desired.

Autumn and winter are beautiful times of the year to visit, when the leaves change on the trees and there is a very restful feel about the village.

the Village has two restaurants, one being just a few minutes from the house, the other is about 15 minutes walk away.

About a 20 minutes stroll away is the beautiful Abbaye de Valloires, which have beautiful gardens open to the public. The Abbaye also do arranged tours in English.
