This lovely unique four bedroom villa, which was built in 2005, is located in the peaceful and beautiful, typically Greek Village of Sarlata on the unspoilt island of Kefalonia. All the facilities you could want, plenty of space, air conditioning, facilities by the pool and the all important pool. We had a wonderful two weeks. The villa is in a quiet village with great views. The property is well maintained with a friendly management team who were really helpful. We enjoyed the local beaches, lots of time by the pool, morning strolls in Argostoli and a day out to Assos. Try some wine tasting at Gentillini winery on the road towards Lassi. Good selection of DVD's provided which the children enjoyed watching in the evenings. Would recommend this property to all. What a lovely island. Jenny K.5 Perfect!5 out of 5Review Submitted: 13 August 2012 Date of Stay: July 2012 What a find! Villa Margaret Rose really has it all - exceptional accommodation, a stunning setting and an ideal location for exploring Kefalonia - I can't recommend it highly enough. The villa makes a luxurious home from home, with every last detail thought of, and is beautifully maintained and cleaned by the most friendly, helpful team of people - Doug and Suzanne make wonderful managers, a real addition to a superb holiday base. We loved it. You will need a car - and confidence with a clutch for the rather steep driveway! - but having two excellent beaches nearby at Ammes and Avithos, some great tavernas (eating by the beach at Avithos was sheer paradise), and Argostoli within 15 mins is a definite plus. The sandy local beaches are among the best we found - especially for kids - while further afield the harbour towns of Assos and Fiscardo are a must, and the drive to Lourdata and Sami offers up some breathtakingly lovely views as it winds through some magical Greek villages. Melissani and Drogorati Cave are also well worth a visit. The Jenners couldn't have been more helpful, even phoning to let us know where shops would be open on the Sunday we arrived - and were great when we realised we'd left our son's teddy caught up in bedding! Our kids (9 & 13) made extremely good use of the pool (and the pool table!), and Steve and Jan really had thought of everything - even a good selection of DVDs and games. You really can trust this site – there are no clever photography tricks or flowery fibs here, this villa does exactly what it says on the tin. The proximity to the airport did worry me before we arrived, but once there it really isn't that noticeable - the island doesn't seem to get that many flights - so don't let that put you off. Kefalonia is a truly lovely Greek island to explore as it isn't quite so touristy as some of the others and it does do beauty like no other. In fact, if I have to come up with a negative, it would be that we had to leave and come home. I will definitely be booking again! The owner's own books and DVDs were available... we realy felt welcome, like in a home. The English gentleman taking care of the swimming pool every two days was a very pleasant appearance and so were the local ladies showing up for cleaning (at an incredible speed). Have to say a car is definitely a must and some outstanding driving skills to come with it too, as the parking way is incredibly steep. There is a large selection of terraces in Lassi prety close, Argostoli is also handy and besides that there are great places on the island like Assos and especially Fiskardo - definitely an island worth seeing and probably coming back to. The villa is in a lovely little village in the hills within 5 minutes of the airport, with great views out onto the sea. There are plenty of restaurants and tavernas within a 5-10 minute drive away, as are some great uncrowded beaches like Avithos. The island's capital Argostoli is only a 15 minute drive too, and is great for wandering around later in the evening. The owners have provided everything you could wish for and it really feels like a lot of time, effort and consideration have gone into this property. The Villa itself is comprised of three levels. The living area being at the top. Three bedrooms, the main having ensuite are on the middle level. The bottom level is a massive open plan area, comprising of a sleeping area with double bed, which can be screened off a bathroom and a kitchen/utility area which leads out onto the terrace and pool. The villa is exceptionally well maintained by the local manager and cleaning staff who are an absolute delight to have around, and always willing to help with local advice so you can get the most out of your holiday. You really need a car to make the most of any holiday in Kefalonia as the island is so beautiful, with so many places to see. The northern tip of the Island including Assos and Fiscardo are well worth a visit. I would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone, it really is a home from home. Close to the airport (yet far enough away) and with fantastic sea views. Constructed on 3 levels with well appointed accomodation. The only negative comment is that parking on the narrow road outside the villa is almost inevitable. This is due to the very steep and uneven drive to the property and the huge break-over ramp at the top of the drive. (Probably OK with a 4x4) A car is a must and the neighbours are very sensitive where parking is concerned. A problem on the first day! The property was very well presented and ably maintained by a local ex-pat. The location is ideal, in my view, having convenient access to the capital Argostoli in addition to the wonderful local beaches, bars and restaurants and also as a centre for touring and exploring the island. The pool and BBQ were welcome assets and the surrounding wooded countryside was home to a variety of birds and other wildlife. I particularly appreciated the proximity to Argostoli with its harbour, markets, bars and restaurants and the convenient access to the Lixouri peninsular by car ferry. I have re-booked for 2 visits in 2010 so it must have been pretty good. Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway
