From the owner

Welcome to the Little House – self catering cottage. A great location in a peaceful North Devon valley. 3 miles from Braunton & Barnstaple and 15 mins drive to the golden, sandy beaches of North Devon: Croyde, Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Putsborough. Exmoor is a 20-30 minute drive away. The Little House; which is part of our traditional Devon Long House built in 1680 was originally a huge, vast cellar with windows. We have transformed The Little House into a quirky open plan self catering cottage which is in the style of an open plan studio apartment on the ground floor. NOTE v low ceilings. Full of charm and character with exposed stone walls, wooden floors and low beams (note: very low ceilings). The Little House looks out to our paddock and the woodland beyond. The Little House is a perfect rural get away for two people and a dog. We welcome families, bear in mind the Little House is open plan and the sofa bed is suitable for 2 children, not 2 adults. Please note we have no mobile signal at The Little House, unless you are EE/Orange. WiFi is free and of a reasonable speed. Use of indoor swimming pool on request (located 15 minute drive away). Look out for Jingle our super friendly Labrador and Jack our reliable old horse and of course the chickens! Put your feet up, enjoy a glass of wine, listen to the stream trickle by and the owls hoot as night time falls. Come and escape to the countryside.......................

Further details

The Little House is ideal for less able bodied people, as all on one level, no stairs or steps.

Note: We are a busy, friendly family of 4 and part of our long Long House is above the Little House. We have 2 kids who do run about so you will hear the odd noise from above. Having said that it is very peaceful here.

Further details indoors

The set up of the Little House is open plan i.e. no separate bedroom, a bit like a funky studio apartment. Newly decorated in Mar 2013, with solid pine furniture and a modern kitchen with white ceramic sink. Comfortable king size bed and double sofa bed, well equipped kitchen, A funky shower room (wet room), Free unlimited WiFi, ideal for dogs, all wooden and tiled floors. Access to our paddock and the woodland beyond, central heating and electricity included, no limits and rules! Storage for bikes, golf clubs and surf boards. NOTE v low ceilings.

Further details outdoors

The Little House has front and rear entrances. Parking is to the rear of the Little House in a private driveway. Large porch to hang your wet suits and store your wellies. Small table and bench in the porch for evening drinks while you listen to the owls hoot away. A large picnic table and a barbecue on a small patio area - a real sun trap. You are welcome to use our paddock and garden.

Amazing little hide away
Sep 2017

Beautifully remote and peacefull, but well within reach of the smaller towns and villages. Beaches are beautiful and only 15-30 minutes away. Very dog friendly. Will definitely return one day

Owner's reply:
Hi Suzanne, thanks for taking the time to review The Little House. I agree with all your comments. We do not hide the fact the ceiling is very low in our description and I think I am clear in saying the Little House house is an open plan set up, so one room and a bathroom. I will review our description and make sure it is clear. All skirting boards get painted every other year so at the end of September they will be done again, I agree they have not worn well this year. I have bought a new rug, the old one has gone! Normally people use SAT NAV, but I will amend the auto messages people get when they book to include a bit of detail about where we are in Whitehall, as we are fairly remote. I appreciate your honest feedback, we cannot improve with out. Thanks Jo.

Hey for a couple with a dog
Aug 2017

Had a great few days away in Whitehall. You do need a car as the country lanes are quiet tight. Perfect location for peace a quiet. Really dog friendly.
