The Sicily region

Sicily, situated directly beneath the Italian peninsula, is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Includes nine provinces: Agrigento, Caltanissetta, Enna, Messina, Palermo, Ragusa, Siracusa and Trapani and Catania, a city dominated by the volcano Etna, still active, which is often associated with the island. Thanks to its favorable climate, its cultural heritage, and also particularly appealing to the sea, Sicily is the perfect place for your vacation rental! The historical background plays a role of primary importance in the region, where you will find a wide variety of monuments, all belonging to different cultures and eras, and witnesses of the various civilizations that have lived on this island a strategic importance. The diversity is also evident in the vegetation of the island forests of oak and pine, lemon and almond trees ... The capital of Sicily is Palermo, a city dynamic and surprising in many ways.

Fanusa

Syracuse is a city with tourism. The city has a historic center that is located on an island named ORTIGIA which is connected to the rest of the city by 3 bridges. As a result of strategic and enviable location on the Mediterranean Syracuse has suffered many cultures that have left their footprints on the ground. Consequently, the archeological park of Siracusa is so vast and interesting to merit a trip to the resort area already se.altrettanto interesting only 7 miles south of the city with beaches like "arenella" and "Fanusa". "Fanusa" falls within the marine protected area "Plemmirio"

“A little corner of paradise”

Reviewed 13 Jun 2013

The Villa Bismarkia is an outstanding holiday spot if you want to relax in a quiet unspoilt environment. Though only 7K from Syracusa, it has that backwater rural feel to it. Roberto Bonomo is a friendly but unobtrusive host whose interest in tropical plants gives the place its special feel (and also its name - the bismarkia being a particularly striking tree from Madagascar). The villa is set at right angles to Roberto's house in 2 acres of magnificent tropical plants and fruit trees all surrounded by a bamboo hedge which gives the place a quiet away-from-it-all feel. The villa itself is large for a 1-bedroom property with enormous kitchen-diner (which also has a double sofa-bed), stylish bathroom and very large bedroom. It is modern (the house being only 7 years old) and has all of the cooking facilities you need. The high sloping ceilings give the rooms an airy feel in the hottest weather and we didn't need to use the air conditioning despite daytime temperatures in the high twenties. the villa also has its own shaded portico out front for outdoor dining if you wish. The pool is well tended and clean and has a beautiful setting with the tropical vegetation about. For getting out and about you will need a car. Nearest good beach at Arenella (4K). 7K to Syracuse with a very good Lidl supermarket at the edge of the town. All-in-all I would recommend the Villa Bismarkia without hesitation as a holiday destination
