Beautifully renovated old stone Presbytere, in a very small hamlet in the AOC Malepere wine region, minutes from the medieval villages of Fanjeaux and Mirepoix and only 25mins from Carcassonne.

The house is very light, airy and spacious, comfortably sleeping 16 people in 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms (5 ensuite and the other two just across the corridor). There are to die for views all around.

Spacious well equipped kitchen with range cooker allowing you to make a Coq-au-vin, Elizabeth David would be proud of with produce from the local markets. The extra large long dining table comfortably seats 16.

Secluded garden with very large pool, 12m x 6m, and outdoor BBQ and covered seating area with stunning views overlooking the rolling countryside to the often snow-capped Pyrenees in the distance.

The lounge has a large woodburning stove, large flatscreen TV, DVD, ipod dock, and video players. Additional soft- seating areas in the kitchen, upstairs hallway and downstairs hallway.

Separate Utility Room with Washing machine, iron and ironing board, hoovers and lots of cleaning materials. Clothes line outside.

In the heart of Cathar country with walks direct from the house, 1hr from Med coast,Toulouse & 2 hrs from Andorra. Close to Canal du Midi and Tour de France routes.

“A very happy holiday in a lovely and area”

Our hosts were welcoming and friendly, speaking English and were helpful, available yet unobtrusive. The house was extremely spacious, easily accommodating 16 of us comprising four families age range 3 - 70. The large number of en suite bathrooms was very helpful, the plumbing worked and there was a constant supply of hot water. The kitchen contained all necessary equipment and appliances, the lounge was comfortable and well provided with TV, DVD and games. The dining table comfortably seated all 16 of us. Outside an outstanding feature was the large swimming pool, clean and well maintained and completely private.The BBQ area provided shade and another table which seated 16. There was a large lawn area and plentiful loungers, cushions and play equipment were provided. The views from house and garden were wonderful, the countryside scenery much nicer than Tuscany in our opinion. The lovely village of Fanjeau and the delightful town of Mirepoix are each within easy access.

We had a fabulous 2 weeks in this super house which was perfect for the 6 adults and 6 children. The house is well equipped, particularly the kitchen, and we spent several nights sitting outside around the big table eating. It's a short drive into Mirepoix (10 mins) were we enjoyed many of the cafes and restaurants. The house is a great location as a base for exploring the entire Languedoc region. The large pool was enjoyed by both adults and children whether serious swimming before breakfast or fun and games throughout the day.
