...Bank House is a family bolt-hole where kinfolk and friends gather for some real quality time. Bank House is well suited to all the family’s needs with bags of character in every room, and a wee nip of the warm stuff for the adults, in fact we say that Whisky is sunlight held together by water! Sip it from a crystal tumbler in the cosy snug on a squishy sofa whilst reading a good book from the library. Enjoy the peace and quiet or…sit on the floor with the kids and a whole host of toys. For the big kids, there is a poker table and roulette wheel with chips for an instant casino feel, don’t forget to dress for dinner!

In fact, we can organize a “murder mystery” dinner party for you with clues, characters, dress ideas and menus sent by email before hand. A video will be there on your arrival with all the instructions you will need to bring out the Miss Marple in everyone. (additional charge applies)

Entertain each other in grand style around the banquet table with crystal decanters and silver platters, dine like Kings, even if one dines on a delivery from one of the many eateries in the village! Life is too short for spending in the kitchen but if this is your idea of a great break you will find a kitchen equipped to produce even a birthday cake if you so wish. Roast a Hare or poach a whole salmon in the fish kettle, it is all there for you to enjoy.

The elegant drawing room is perfect for after dinner chatter and bedtime stories. And then to bed… close the shutters to the world outside and sink into comfy beds with electric blankets, throws, and crisp white bed linen.

Don’t forget to pack the hiking boots or stout walking brogues, fill the picnic hamper provided with yummy lunch and a hot flask of coffee and set off up the Lomond Hills to blow away the cobwebs. Catch your breath as the coastline opens up to you from atop the West Lomond, accessible by even the most sedate amongst us. See right across to Edinburgh on a clear day. Listen to the Skylarks singing as they soar above their nests. Scan the horizon for the large ocean going liners as they drift out to sea and taste the fresh Scottish air as your mouth drops open in wonder at the beauty in our land.

Walk in the footsteps of kings and knights around Falkland Palace, and tread the paths of our Stone Age and Roman ancestors. Run over the same hills Rob Roy and his men covered as they ransacked the countryside in search of food and shelter. Discover where the villagers turned back Rob Roy and his band of men who sought to pillage and plunder the village of Leslie once their supplies ran out having sacked Falkland Palace.

They were brave people indeed, and none as brave as the Countess of Rothes who took command of lifeboat 8 upon the sinking of the Titanic. Visit what remains of her family home, Leslie House, or pay respect at the tomb of her husband, the Earl of Rothes. Both in the village.

If the hills are not to your taste, pile in the car and drive the 30 minutes it will take to get to Tentsmuir beach where a whole day feels like it has flown by in ten minutes. Neither the wind nor the rain will dampen the pleasure of the miles and miles of sand and dunes. It is perhaps the undulating coastline of vast sandy beaches, sparkling waters and dramatic views that marks The Kingdom of Fife out as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The beaches here are breathtaking whatever the season, so get ready to feel the sand between your toes or walk for miles along the Fife Coastal path.

Let the kids run free and wild and leave Granny to take the videos and snapshots.

Perhaps you are a family of golfers!...we are talking Fife here!...enough said!

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

The Kingdom of Fife is a peninsula on the east central coast of Scotland, lying just to the north of Edinburgh with the Firth of Tay on it's northern bank and the Firth of Forth on it's southern bank. The spectacular Forth Rail Bridge and the Forth Road Bridge are iconic gateways into the Kingdom of Fife. Soon to be joined by the New Forth Crossing. Fife is central to all access roads and motorways to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Perth, Aberdeen and Stirling making it a great base for exploring our glorious country this year. Trains stations are relatively close. Some of Scotland's best golf courses are in the area including St Andrews Royal and Ancient and Gleneagles. Falkland Palace, Loch Leven, fishing and bird sanctuaries as well as wild life in abundance are all here to enjoy. Scotland, a place like no other!

Falkland

Glenrothes has its own airport for small commuter flights or private flights and there are a number of small local golf courses around to keep your hand in. Glenrothes is also home to the Best wedding venue in the country for the seventh year running. The village of Leslie dates back to the middle ages and is abound with history. On a more practical level and for modern day comforts you have a plethora of eating places and pubs, bars and bistros as well as shops, Libraries, theatres and parks.

“excellent stay; lovely big house; friendly owners”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2016

We stayed here as an extended family of 9 as an early celebration of our mother's 80th birthday. House has everything you could possibly need - and more. Manages to be spacious, beautifully furnished, but homely and welcoming at the same time. Located in Leslie, about 6 miles from Falkland. Excellent range of local takeaways and restaurants more or less next door if you don't want to cook. Private parking with loads of room - we had 4 cars, and could have fitted more in. Jayne and Stuart provided an unexpected welcome pack with all the essentials; and even a birthday card for granny! We spent a lot of time at the huge dining table; not only eating, but chatting, laughing, reminiscing and playing some very competitive board games. We left Bank House with loads of happy memories, and we hope that it continues to do the same for friends and families for many years to come. Marion.

Thank you Marion, We appreciate your kind words and wish you and your family all the very best. Please send our respects to your Mother. Jayne
