At an altitude of 600 metres, this property is accessed by a private road of 3 kilometers and is surrounded by beautiful unspoiled countryside ideal for hikers, ornithologists, and nature lovers. The grounds are a haven for birds, butterflies and wildflowers. Eagles can often be seen circling the hills behind the property. Monaco and Nice airport are just 30 minutes away by car. The amazing new Nice tramway with easily accessible free parking is less than twenty minutes away by car. There is a riding school very close to the property that offer rides out for all levels through some spectacular scenery (see www.randonnees-equestres06.fr). Excellent restaurants can be found in the nearby perched villages of Tourrette Levens and Aspremont, and many of the Riviera's finest beaches are within easy reach. A very rare opportunity to combine the excitement of the Riviera with the hidden delights of a traditional rural provençal retreat.

Further details indoors

L'Atelier is a stone and timber property on two levels each of around 22 square metres. The main accommodation with American style kitchen is on the upper level and the bedroom and shower area with w.c. is in the lower stone level which is delightfully cool in summer. Access to the upper level is by steps and is surrounded by a terrace where it is possible to eat outside.

Further details outdoors

Additional outdoor living space is provided around the plunge pool, located in a corner of the garden. The grounds are steeply sloped with steps and therefore this property is unsuitable for very young children without supervision or those with reduced mobility.

The Provence region

At 600 metres' altitude, L' Atelier enjoys a wonderful micro climate. Summer temperatures are a degree or two lower than on the coast and the air is pure and pollution free. Nice, Monaco, Cannes and the Italian frontier are all within a short drive.

Falicon

L'Atelier was built on the site of a Roman encampment and artifacts are sometimes found in the grounds. From the house can be seen ruins of a medieval village and the local perched villages are fascinating to visit. The chateau at Tourrette Levens can also be seen from the garden and houses a world famous insect museum.

“A beautifully quaint holiday home, quietly tucked away in the hills of Southern France.”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2016

My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Olive Tree Lodge. What a beautiful location and breathtaking views from the property. It is perfectly situated around a half an hours drive from Nice and the airport and other nearby beaches such as Villefranche. We loved being so removed from civilisation but, as we were so close to everywhere else, we were able to pop to the coast or to the shops extremely easily if we fancied doing so. The pool was lovely and refreshing on hot summer days but, being up in the mountains, we enjoyed a slightly cooler climate too which we were glad of in the hotter weather. We also enjoyed the surrounding nature too, the odd friendly goat, chicken or cat brought a smile to our faces, so if you're a nature lover, Olive Tree Lodge will definitely be up your street! It makes you take a step back from day to day life and appreciate the simplicity of the beautiful surrounding nature. There are also some scenic walks right on your doorstep with lovely views out to sea. Finally, Pamela and Patrick were delightful. They were friendly, helpful and attentive! Thank you so so much for a lovely stay, we will certainly be back in the future. A tip: a hire car is highly recommendable!

We really enjoyed meeting you and are so glad that you appreciated your surroundings and were able to make the most of your stay. Rosie the chicken is still looking for you!
