Location description from owner

The County Donegal region

We are located in Inishowen, in Northwest Donegal which is renowned for its spectacular coastal scenery and outdoor pursuits. The area boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Ireland, from the well known ward winning blue flag beaches to small secluded bays coves. The nearest beach – Lisfannon Beach - is a tblue flag beach and only a two minute walk from the house. It runs for approximately one and quarter miles from Fahan marina to merge with The White Strand beach a Blue flag facility. There are 13 Blue Flag designated beaches in Donegal.

There is an abundance of golf courses set on amazing backdrops of coast and beach locations including a number of award winning courses. The "Inishowen 100 Scenic route" is a 100 mile driving route that meanders around Inishowens breathtaking coastline and was voted “one of top scenic routes in Ireland “ by the Irish Independent.

Walking is is a fabulous way to see this part of the world. Whether you want long rambling walks over rugged terrain or to gently explore scenic beaches or exploring ancient sites. For water enthusiasts, the local area has a wealth of water based activities from kayaking, surfing, sailing and fishing. Boat trips and fishing trips can be arranged locally and the Lough Swilly Sailing Club and Marina are situated 2 minutes from the house.

Fahan

The house is situated in the charming coastal village of Fahan with breathtaking views over beaches and mountains. The house is suitable for both families and corporate hire and is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and golfers who can enjoy the many sports and activities on offer in North West Donegal and Derry. The house is situated on a hillside position opposite the Blue Flag Lisfannon beach, Lough Swilly Marina and Sailing club. Take a short stroll to two great restaurants/bars - the Red Door Country House and the Firebox Grill and enjoy the music and "craic" without having to drive.

The luxury holiday home is also an ideal for those who wish to explore historic Derry City from a more a tranquil base. Few places in these islands can offer such a compelling and unique experience for the visitor as the Walled City of Derry - its setting on the steep hills overlooking the wide sweep of the River Foyle, its distinctive architecture and its famous walls all provide enormous appeal. The Lonely Planet Guide have Derry in the top 10 cities to visit in 2013. This reflected the large number of events the city hosted as part of the UK City of Culture 2013 including, of course, the All Ireland Fleadh.

The Golden Eagle re-introduction project has been ongoing based at Glenveagh National Park since 2000. Several pairs of eagles now hold territory and nest in and around Glenveagh and the wider county and are regularly sighted flying and hunting over the house.

“Unparalleled holiday Home”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2014

The booking process was easy with Carmel dealing with every query quickly and accurately. We had enough information provided before we arrived to allow us to plan our break with no wasted time. when we got there (less than 2 hours from Belfast) the house was magnificent. Clean, well appointed with no need to go out and buy essentials. the view from the house is magnificent, probably the best on the complex, overlooking Inch island and the waterways surrounding it. All the major towns and attractions of the area are readily accessible with the local restaurants of very high quality. We did have the best of Donegal weather but there were plenty of books, games to keep you amused. A wonderful trip, highly recommended

hello - thankyou for taking the time to leaving a review - it is great to hear everything was to your satisfaction and your group enjoyed themselves. We would be delighted to welcome you back to Fahan and will organise a discount for your next visit.Thankyou !

“Spacious, comfortable and well equipped accommodation with magnificent views”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2014

We throughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely house. It was spacious, very comfortable, clean and well equipped, and more than met the needs of our family of ten - three generations ranging from 6 years to 60+. The views from the house over Lough Swilly are magnificent and the surrounding countryside is very beautiful. Booking the accommodation was very easy and the owners couldn't have been more helpful. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return to it ourselves in the near future.

We are always delighted when our guests leave satisfied as we try to meet everyones expectations and make their holiday something special. Many thanks for taking the time to leave this review and we look forward to welcoming you back to Fahan sometime in the future.

Reviewed 28 Apr 2014

12 Beacon Hill is absolutely gorgeous! I've been there with my friends and family (we were 10) and we had a wonderful weekend. We did a BBQ in the garden where from we could enjoy the beautiful view. Thank you Carmel for preparing everything for us! There is a beach in 5min walking distance. We knew that the house will be great (from pictures) but it was even better than expected! I highly recommend this place!

Thankyou for booking with us, for your lovely comments and taking the time to leave a review- any time you want to come again will organise a discount. warmest regards carmel

“What a house!!!”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2014

Amazing house - spacious, clean, child friendly and comfortable. 4 large rooms, easily accommodating our party of 4 adults and 4 children (aged 10,7,7,2). All the rooms clean and decorated well. The kitchen is amazing with the centre island which was great for preparing family meals and with a large dining table for us all to sit around made for noisy but enjoyable meal times! Small garden at the rear of the house which was ideal for the kids to run about in. Fahan is well situated for doing some site seeing too - we visited neighbouring BunCrana, LetterKenny, Coleraine, Giant's Causeway and the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge. Don't have any complaints as everything was as advertised. Owner also kept in touch prior to going and very informative re surrounding area and attractions. Will definitely be returning! Thank you for a very enjoyable holiday.

many thanks for your lovely review - I am delighted you all had a great holiday

“Excellent Vacation Rental - Incredible View”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2013

Twelve Beacon Hill is a large house with incredible views of Lough Swilly. It has four large bedrooms, which are all lovely. But the best part of the house are the common areas downstairs. A super modern open plan kitchen, a dining room extension, reading room, TV room, and even a games room for the kids. Lovely place - we'll be back.

many thanks for taking the time to give us a great review, I appreciate it and anytime you wish to return I will organise a discount. Regards carmel
