The Devon region
Exmouth is only 10 miles from Exeter City with its beautiful cathedral and numerous shops. It is set in the centre of East Devons beautiful countryside with the Exe Estuary on one side and the glorious countryside of Woodbury Common on the other, with many charming and quaint towns and villages nearby.
Budleigh Salterton is just 3 miles away, it is a sheltered seaside town with interesting and unusual shops, it is situated on the mouth of the river Otter.
Topsham is 8 miles away is an attractive town situated on the Exe Estuary. It offers river walks, wildlife, a Saturday morning market, many unique shops, restaurants and pubs and locally-caught seafood.
Lympstone. 3 miles away is a charming and pretty village on the Estuary. A cycle route and railway service links Exmouth to Lympstone.
Exmouth is a Gateway Town to the Jurassic Coast. Exmouth at the estuary's mouth, marks the World Herritage Coastlines western gateway and despite being one of England's oldest resorts, remains untouched by commercialism. Dramatic cliffs of red rock are the distinctive feature of this East Devon Coast and it also has the most gorgeous 2 mile long golden safe sandy beach and Sandy Bay. Exmouith is accessible by foot via the South West Coastal Path which runs along the entire length of the Jurassic Coast.
The Exe Estuary is lively and vibrant with numerous water activities. The vast mudflats are home to an abundance of invertebrate species making the estuary as rich in biodiversity as a tropical rainforest. Wading birds flock here in the winter.
The Exmouth Festival is from the end of May and has evolved into a summer long party, with a series of events and performances planned from May to September and then the Carnival in October.
You can just stroll along the seafront, take a boat trip, relax in the gardens or just enjoy an ice-cream.
