“Perfect Cottage”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2019

From the moment we arrived at Rose cottage until we left we felt at home. The cottage has a real home from home feel about, from the minute you step into the cosy, large , warm kitchen. The cottage has everything you need, and more. The sitting room with cosy wood burner, and full sky package is the perfect place to spend an evening. Although there is a little traffic noise, after mid evening there’s very little. The garden spread over three levels catches the sun throughout the day, even managed to sit out a couple of times. The welcome pack that Phillip provides is a lovely gesture, and was gratefully received. The cottage is set in a great location for exploring the Cumbrian coast and the Lake District fells.Managed walks in Wasdale, Boot and three Wainwrights plus a trip in the Ravenglass railway. Overall a great place to stay in a fantastic cottage.

“Perfect bank holiday getaway”

Reviewed 23 Apr 2019

We had six of us staying here over the Easter bank holiday weekend and couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. The cottage had everything we needed - best of all was the seemingly never ending beautiful garden in which we were able to have a lovely BBQ on our first night. The area itself is also great, Eskdale is a beautiful and quiet corner of the Lake District with spectacular views and plenty of wonderful walking options, while Rose Cottage is situated very close to a very well equipped shop and a couple of lovely-looking pubs (we sadly didn't get to check any of them out on this occasion!). There was a very minor plumbing problem on the day we arrived but Phill the owner was excellent with communication and had this fixed within an hour. Highly recommended!

Owner's reply: Thanks so much and we look forward to seeing you back in lovely Eskdale. Phill

“Lovely stay”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2017

We stayed at rose cottage for a long weekend at the beginning of April. Before we got to the cottage the owners sent us lots of information about the cottage and things to do in the local area. When we arrived, the owners left wine, bread, eggs and bacon which was a lovely touch. The cottage was very peaceful and located in a small village which is exactly what we needed and the lovely weather made the weekend perfect. We even ventured over hard nose pass which was petrifying but worth the amazing views and great for opportunities. Our only very small criticism of the cottage was that it only had a two slice toaster. We were 6 adults so making toast in the morning for us all took ages! A 4 slice roster and a cafetière would make a big difference at breakfast times but other than that the kitchen was well stocked with everything we need. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will definitely be back!

Owner's reply: Many thanks for the feedback and so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We have taken note of your valid points - very best regards Phill

“Amazing cottage, great location, wonderful holiday.”

The property was lovely and in a great location. Bedding and everything was provided and we got a welcome gift. I would definitely recommend this cottage to families with small children, couples, extended family and groups of friends. It covers all bases.

“A beautiful cottage in the heart of the Lake District, great for families!”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2016

Eskdale is a beautiful village perfectly located in the Lake District for those looking to take scenic walks directly from their cottage without having to drive anywhere. It is a very quiet and peaceful place so well suited to those that are looking to escape the crowds. The cottage is very well equipped with a very cosy kitchen with a beautiful hillside garden. Six of us stayed in the cottage very comfortably. Make sure you take a trip to the Bower Inn where everyone is very friendly and welcoming. We will be back next year!
