“Amazing setting”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2016

The Cottage itself is in an amazing setting, and is clean and comfortable. We all loved the views. We enjoyed taking the ferry (which is right on the doorstep) to Barra. I would advise booking in the summer months if taking a vehicle, well worth a visit. The staff member in the ticket office on the ferry was great at advising where to go on the island. Back in Eriskay we cycled across the causeway which was fine unless you are a novice like me. The hill out and back to cottage nearly killed me, but by the end on the week I made it in first gear, had a welcome stop at the Kilbride campsite. We had a swim in the clear turquoise water (with wet suits). Met some jelly fish but they seemed to disappear by the end of the week. A few midgies but the Avon spray seemed to work. You can walk to the pub along the beach, which was nice and the kids appreciated the wifi, didn't have the food but menu looked good. They don't accept dogs inside but there is a garden. Local shop well stocked and friendly. We went up to North Uist and were intending do some sea kayaking at a centre there but ran out of time. All in all a lovely break and wonderful place to visit. In summary we highly recommend the cottage, it's location and comfort, a great base to explore a great place.
