The England region

Ennerdale is one of the Lake District's wildest and most remote valleys making it the perfect place to escape, even in high season. Despite its remote location you can still drive to popular Lakeland towns like Cockermouth and Whitehaven within 20 minutes. Ennerdale Water is 3 miles long and has beautiful, clear water filled with a variety of fish including the rare Arctic Char. Perfect for walkers, enjoy hikes over the fells of Pillar, Steeple, High Stile, Great Borne and Red Pike. You can also walk a circuit around the lake at Ennerdale following a clear path. There are plenty of mountain biking tracks and trails by the lakes, or if you want to push yourself to the limits try the biking over the passes to Buttermere or Wasdale.

Ennerdale Bridge

In the village of Ennerdale Bridge, you will find the St Mary's Church. It was built on the site of a medieval chapel and is mentioned in the Wordsworth poem ‘The Brothers’. The village is built around the river Ehen which flows from Ennerdale Water. In the village you'll find two excellent pubs, the Fox and Hounds and the Shepherd’s Arms, both of which serve good homemade food and a selection of local ales from the Ennerdale Brewery.
