This is the PERFECT location for when you really want to escape the rat-race and recharge your batteries!

Nestled in the picturesque Seven Valleys, overlooking a stream, pasture land ... cows, ducks, pheasants, woodpeckers... we are just an hours easy drive south-east of the tunnel/ferries..

Your accommodation is a stand-alone, 2-floored, 2-bedroom cottage in a quiet, small “village that time forgot” (Embry). The Cottage is very comfortable and extremely well equipped and provides free Wi-Fi.

In summer enjoy an evening drink on your own terrace, under the trees (perhaps light up the barbeque) and soak up the peace and quiet.

The cottage shares a large property with the English-speaking Kiwi owners who live in the adjacent "grand maison" and one of us is always on-hand.

The village sports NO shops or cafes ! (Nearest garage: 8 mins drive, Nearest shops: 12 mins.) Close by are many historical war sites to explore, along with a selection of superb restaurants and lovely villages to discover. Montreuil is 22km away (shops, citadelle, ramparts) and Le Touquet is about 37km (beaches, casino, golf, equestrian, great shops).

Please note that the two bedrooms are upstairs and one must walk through one to get to the second one (and the en-suite bathroom). There is a second shower and toiler downstairs). Also, there is no mobile-phone coverage in the Cottage (which lots of our guests appreciate) but you do have the Wi-Fi and coverage is usually possible on one of the higher, adjacent roads.

When you are ready to leave the rat-race behind and experience a lovely, traditional French village - Embry offers a unique opportunity to soak up the quiet and the sun whilst giving easy access to many places of interest in the Pad de Calais region.

Dedicated WiFi access from the cottage.UK/English FreeView TV is available (20-odd channels) !And there are PAL-format TV sets, which can be used in conjunction with the DVD player.(The landlords also have extensive UK SKY and French Satellite coverage, so it is quite possible that special Media Events can be catered to! (Think Formula One, Rugby, Cricket, America's Cup...)While there IS an internal fireplace, we ask that it not be used - for Insurance reasons.Board Games, Petanque/Boules, Table-Tennis, etc. are available on request.

The cottage has it's own, independent patio area, outdoor furniture and basic BBQ equipment.Parking is off-road, in a large, shared driveway. The village lends itself to leisurely walks and cycling, as does the forest that's "just up the hill". There are many places of historical interest within 35 mins' drive in most directions.

Smoking is permitted outside.
Given the proximity to a small creek across the road (and no gates on the driveway) plus the lack of child-proof gates top or bottom of the internal stairs, we usually recommend the house as being suitable for grown-ups and children over 10.

Thanks for the feedback Terry. We take all guests comments very seriously - this being the only negative comment we have had in 3 years of offering the accommodation for rent. I have passed your comments about the cobwebs to our cleaner. and I am sorry you experienced this. With regards to the downstairs toilet - this is very common in France. We have, in fact, attempted to put a handbasin in the toilet but given its' size could not get permission to do so. The other company with which we list actually inspect the property and have indicated they are happy with the arrangements given the fact there is a shower next door to the toilet which can be used and the fact that the situation is not unusual. That said, I am genuinely sorry you were not happy with the set-up. Geoff would have been happy to provide you with a basin - we do all we can to respond immediately to any concerns raised by guests during there stay. We do thank you for staying with us and apologise that it was not to your satisfaction. Regards, Annette

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Annette (the owner) a message.

If Annette (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
