We used the property as a family home at the weekends during the five yeas that our son was a chorister at Ely Cathedral. With frequent trips to the cathedral for services and rehearsals, we needed somewhere that was easy, stress-free, comfortable and welcoming. We sincerely hope you will enjoy that environment too!

We manage all the bookings, as well as the care & maintenance of the property ourselves, using professional contractors where required. Although we live about 40 minutes away, you can be assured of a personal service and thorough care and attention at all times. We do respond to all enquiries even if we're booked - so please check an overly enthusiastic spam filter hasn't buried our reply. Better still leave us a phone number and we'll call or text you!

We can provide a purpose built wheelchair access ramp to the rear door, and the internal stairs to the first floor have substantial rails on both sides. There is easy access to the car parking area and to the street without steps or curbs. The additional wc on the ground floor makes this an ideal property for anyone who requires support with mobility.

Ely

The historic city of Ely is full of charm and beauty and home to one of the most magnificent cathedrals in England.

“comfortable, excellent locaion, quiet and the garden and off road parking a bonus”

Reviewed 19 Jun 2013

The cottage is much better equipped than usual, which made self catering very easy. To be met by the owner was lovely, and meant we could ask all the questions, and get lots of tips re Ely itself as well as the cottage. Parking at the bottom of the garden was great. The view of the cathedral was enchanting. We were only 2 middle aged friends on a few days escape, but it would suit a family just as well

“A lovely place to stay, especially with young children”

Reviewed 9 May 2013

This was a great place to stay - good sized rooms, in a pleasant location and close enough to the centre to do everything on foot; Cromwell's house is only a two minute walk away. The children spent a lot of the time in the garden, which is long and there is lots of grass to play on. And there were games, DVDs and books in the house to keep us all amused. Overall, we were very happy here and would recommend it to anyone.

“A lovely property: comfortable and very well equipped.”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2013

The property is minutes away from the Cathedral and so is ideally placed for everything Ely has to offer. The owner, Bob, welcomed and collected us from Ely railway station and explained how everything worked. We stayed there during the coldest April days for 50 years - but No. 19 was as cosy as could be - a very welcome refuge from the Fenland winds. Very well equipped - a home from home. Highly recommended.

“Great welcome and an excellent place to stay”

Reviewed 3 Feb 2013

I stayed here for a weekend with my 2 teenage sons and 22 year old daughter . The house offered everything we needed. It is really centrally placed in Ely and we had no problem getting out and about. The rooms were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. Bob, who welcomed us on our first da,y was extremely welcoming and helpful. A great place to stay. Thank you

“Lovely house in an ideal location”

Reviewed 12 Oct 2012

Five of us, including my 87-year-old mother, stayed here. It was roomy, clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. Bob and Philippa were helpful and attentive. The garden would be very pleasant in the summertime, with outdoor table and chairs with a view of the cathedral. A short walk takes you to the cathedral, shops, market, restaurants. Walking the same distance in the other direction, you will find a small convenience store. The railroad station is farther-- about 15 minutes walk-- so it might be best to take a taxi if you have bags. The Old Fire Engine House is a great place for lunch or tea. Ely itself is a good location for exploring East Anglia. We drove to Peterborough, Huntingdon, Polebrook, Saffron Walden and Wisbech, and we explored many small roads and villages. Ely has an excellent bookstore, Toppings, which sponsors author talks. We heard Sebastian Faulks while we were there, and PD James and Ian Rankin are scheduled for later in the season.

“Splendid value for money in Ely”

This is a sparkling clean, spacious terraced house with a lovely view of the cathedral from the garden and main bedroom. It is very well equipped and in a quiet location. It makes an ideal base for visiting Ely and exploring the Fens and Cambridge (about 15 miles away). The owners are delight to deal with and do everything to make your stay pleasant. A tree and decorations were provided for our pre-Christmas visit!
