Description

The Bothy is a traditional stone building over 200 years old situated in the peace and tranquility of beautiful Moray. It has a single bedroom with double bed, easy chairs and plenty of room for a travel cot for those travelling with a young child, a kitchenette and bathroom with shower. The main room has a wood panelled ceiling and all windows are double glazed. The kitchenette is fully equipped with all you need to prepare a simple meal and includes a microwave, under the counter full sized fridge with small freezer compartment and a cooker with double hob, grill and oven. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk will be provided to get you started.
Outside there is a sheltered paved area surrounded by the original stone walls which was the Bothy's 'washhouse', ideal for sitting in the warm summer sun enjoying a BBQ admiring the stunning views or just watching the sunset.
Less than four miles from the cathedral city of Elgin, the Bothy enjoys a quiet, secluded countryside location with sweeping views of the Mosstowie valley. Only a few minutes walk from Monaughty woods, it's any easy step from The Bothy for walkers and cyclists alike who can wander to their hearts content with little but the wildlife for company and not a car in sight! The clean white sandy beaches of the Moray Firth are only a 15 minute drive away, with other local attractions including the world renowned Pluscarden Abbey and Speyside Whisky Trail also on the doorstep. The Bothy & its garden, while private, is within the boundary of the owners main property.

Great to stay in a real Bothy. Deceptively large. A warm, clean, comfortable, cosy space - thoughtfully furnished. Perfect for short drives to the beautiful pine-wooded, sandy beaches, and long walks in the beautiful countryside. We enjoyed our stay.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely description of our Bothy and it's surroundings for future guests to read - so thoughtful of you. I am thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back! Kindest regards, Fiona

“A haven of peace and tranquillity”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2017

The quiet location of the Bothy, deep in a private garden and with views out to the fields beyond, has a special feel. Although small, the Bothy is conveniently arranged and very pleasant; it was also very clean. The owners were particularly kind and helpful, and keen to make our visit comfortable. We always enjoyed coming home to the peace and quiet after a busy day discovering Moray.

Owner's reply: I am always so grateful to my guests for taking the time and trouble to write a review so that future guests are able to get a 'feel' for The Bothy and I'm so pleased that you found it a peaceful haven after a busy day. I hope that the rest of your trip goes well and if you ever find yourselves in our area again, please come and see us! Kindest regards, Fiona

“This was a great relaxing stay”

Reviewed 13 May 2017

Was visiting the area for both family and tourist reasons and really needed a 'get away' break. I found the 'Bothy' and it was just what I needed. No hotel, B&B but somewhere self contained. The 'Bothy' is self contained and has all you need for your stay. A really nice bedroom/sitting room (bed really comfy), a small kitchen with oven, microwave, fridge and kettle/coffee maker and all you need for simple meals. Even had tea, coffee, milk and cookies provided. My host, Fiona, greeted me to advise on how things work but after that allowed me to have the solitude I wanted but with the proviso that I could call on her if necessary. Spent two nights here and would have liked more. This is a great place and highly recommended.

Owner's reply: As visiting this area is a fairly regular date in your diary, I am really hoping that you will stay with us again - it was lovely to meet you and I am always so grateful to my guests for taking the trouble to write a review. I'm thrilled to hear that The Bothy was 'just what you needed' - we look forward to welcoming you for a longer stay next time! Kindest regards, Fiona

“Lovely!!”

Reviewed 8 May 2017

First of all Fiona was a fantastic. She greeted me on arrival, made it very clear she was on hand if I needed anything and even offered to move furniture out of the accommodation to allow for my travel cot. This was not needed, as there's ample space. Fiona then allowed us to enjoy our stay in peace and quiet. The property itself is beautiful! The mattress was also very comfortable and we all slept soundly. I particularly loved watching the chickens that she keeps close by. The views are gorgeous. Stunning location and would highly recommend. Thank you Fiona for taking my booking at such short notice. I loved it!

Owner's reply: I'm thrilled that you enjoyed your stay in The Bothy albeit a very short one! It is lovely that despite only staying for one night you have taken the time to write a review for any future guests to read as I know that they find it very helpful to hear other guests views. Thank you again and I hope we may see you again the future. Kindest regards Fiona
