Description from owner

Description

Casa de la Fuente is on the edge of the village of La Vall de Santa Creu which lies at the head of a wild and beautiful valley in sight of the famous medieval monastery, San Pere de Rodes (now floodlit every night). In the spring and early summer the valley is full of wonderful birds and wild flowers (Nightingales everywhere) and perfect for walking. Mid June - September there is a restaurant with terrrace and beer garden in the village. Our nearest beach is two minutes away by car and we are two miles from the lively and attractive Port de la Selva, full of restaurants and excellent food shops, windsurfer and dinghy and diving facilities. The 200 year old house is spacious and there is plenty of room for 10 people to find a quiet corner both inside and outside. There are terraces, garden, and wonderful views from all rooms. The vaulted dining room/kitchen which takes up the whole of the ground floor is perhaps the highlight with its antique Catalan furniture and refectory

Location description from owner

The Costa Brava region

El Port de la Selva

La Vall de Santa Creu is in the middle of a Natural Park, stretching from the border to Cadaques. From our house you can walk on to the mountains, with a 40 minute climb up to the famous 11th century Monasterio de San Pere The whole area is known as Alta Ampordan and is one of the most unspoilt areas of Spain. We are two miles from Port de La Selva, a charming little fishing port (no high rise!) full of good restaurants, excellent shopping - even a couple of night clubs. There is a sandy town beach with windsurfers for hire, and a diving facility.

At the bottom of our road to the coast there are wonderful coves with little shingly beaches and excellent snorkelling in both directions, parking above them not a problem.
