Location description from owner

The Canary Islands region

Fuerteventura Island GuideThe semi-desert Island of Fuerteventura lies just under 100km off the coast of Africa (near the border of Morocco and Western Sahara). It enjoys a near-perfect climate with average monthly temperatures ranging from 17°C in January to 25°C in August.Fuerteventura is the longest Island in the archipelago at 98km north to south and the second-largest Canary Island after Tenerife. The unforgiving barren and arid interior of the island shares much with it's African neighbours of Morroco and the Western Sahara including sparse rainfall, rocky-desert landscapes (the temperature of these rocks can reach 67°C on a hot day!) and simple flat-roofed white-washed villages.Fuerteventura is perhaps most famous for it's beaches, with over 50km of stunning white and golden sand. Despite Tourism being a relatively recent phenomenon on the island, there is a well developed infrastructure with Golf Courses, a Zoo, a Water Park and numerous Marine Excursions. If you fancy something a bit more active, the Island offers great Surfing, Windsurfing and Kite Surfing as well as Big Game Fishing and Diving. If you just want to take it easy, then those miles of white sandy beaches make the perfect getaway, even in peak season you should be able to find a relatively secluded spot for yourself. In short, there is plenty for Families, Twenty-somethings and Sports enthusiastes alike.Photo GalleryGot some photos of Fuerteventura that you would like to share? El Cotillo

Please visit the next link: www.guiadefuerteventura.comn this Guide Fuerteventura beaches can not forget the small resort town of El Cotillo, located in the north of the island, on the west coast. Geared primarily to tourism, this picturesque place has an extensive range of apartments of different categories located on the beach, and outstanding gastronomy especially freshly caught fish for the many fishermen in the area. The beaches of El Cotillo are the best in the world, with fine sand like flour, white and turquoise waters teeming with marine life.In the village of El Cotillo find Los Lagos, frequented by the villagers, and a little further north we visit Playa de La Concha with Blue Flag 2010-2011, which has white sand, clear water and are very well protected by the natural reef, which virtually eliminates the waves. These two beaches, being family, not frequent nudity. And south of town, past the Castle of El Toston, we can visit a wild beach more than 1,300 meters of golden sand and spectacular scenery, which is frequented by Kiteboard practitioners. In all this beaches easily found parking a few meters from the sea, and some of them have rental sunbeds, showers, snack bar and other services.

“We would stay there again”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2014

Great location, beautifully decorated and well appointed. clean, modern and the pool table on the patio was good fun, we hired a car but if you chose not to everything is accessible -bus stop 5mins walk, French bakery across the road, large supermarket 10 mins walk and fabulous beaches 5mins walk, fantastic restaurants a stroll away and the best duck (aka:pet rat in Thai!) ever tasted from the Chinese restaurant across the road, bike hire 2mins away- we rode to Lajares, fed the chipmunks up the volcano, carried on to have tapas in Correlajo and rode back along the coast road stopping off for skinny dip and cold drink by Majanicho-couldn't sit down for 2 days but it was worth it!.
