Oakbank has solid wooden floors throughout , all the beds will be made-up with fresh white cotton bedlinen and a selection of pillows will be available. In the fully tiled bathrooms we have installed under floor heating for your comfort and double sinks in the en-suite bathroom. The kitchen is U-shaped and has an abundance of cupboard space as well as all the usual equipment and an induction hob giving you the control of a gas hob combined with the hygiene of a ceramic hob. Apart from all the usual facilities offered, Oakbank will also ensure your comfort with little extra's such as a play-station and games for the children and a selection of books, magazines and board games. All combining to give you a home from home while enjoying the beautiful Scottish countryside and hospitality on your doorstep.

The enclosed back garden, has a lawn and patio area with stylish garden furniture and a b-b-q. There is also a shed available for the storage of bikes or other recreational tools such as fishing rods, golf clubs etc. The garden is reached via a lane and offers secure parking.

Nestled at the edge of the famous Angus Glens well known for their scenic beauty and tranquility, Edzell has the best of both worlds. In the middle of glorious nature with hills, rivers and beaches on its doorstep, yet within easy driving distance of two larger cities. The area is also known for its superb golf courses, famous castles such as Balmoral(Queen) & Glamis(Queen mother), Royal Deeside and the well known whisky trail. One of the oldes distilleries in Scotland is Fettercairn which is just 4 miles up the road. All through the summer Highland Games (Pipebands, Scottish dancing and tossing the cabre) are held throughout the region with the largest gathering at Braemar at the end of August.

Edzell

Edzell is a small village of only 700 inhabitants yet has almost every amenity you can think of within walking distance of Oakbank. From a superb golf-course with both 18 - , 9 holes and a floodlit driving range to restaurants, a baker, butcher, hairdressers, supermarket, garage, post-office, chemist, doctor, church, bowling club and health club. The local North Esk river is famous for its fishing and the Angus Glens are ideal for an easy stroll or a serious hike. The wonderful beaches at St. Cyrus and Montrose are less than half an hour by car or the kids might just like to potter around 'Edzell beach' or have a dip at the Pirners Brig. The Retreat has a lovely museum about the local area and tea-room and is worth visiting while driving up Glenesk. Local Edzell Castle and the House of Dun on the road to Montrose are two wonderful historic buildings not to be missed.
