The Cumbria region
The Lake District is justly world famous, and more beautiful than can be imagined. Inspiration of William Wordsworth and the Lake Poets, and many other later artists and writers, including the great Beatrix Potter.
It is a great playground for the active walker with breathtaking new surprises round every corner. While the central towns are busy, it is easy to get away from the crowds and be alone all day.
The Lake District has some of the country's top restaurants, the excellent Theatre by the Lake at Keswick, Abbott Hall art gallery in Kendal, Zeffirelli's cinema in Ambleside and many other attractions.
Morland is in the heart of the rolling Eden Valley centred on the River Eden with the Lake District on the west and the Pennines on the East. It is a quiet area but very convenient for the M6 motorway and the main London train line. It is lush farming country specialising in dairy, beef and sheep with mixed woods.
Very good touring base for the Lakes, the Pennines, the Dales and Hadrian's Wall, all within 45 minutes. Local walks and cycle rides in all directions. Fishing on the Eden, and scenic local golf courses.
Pretty local towns like Appleby and Kirkby Stephen, mediaeval castles and pele towers, attractive villages.

"Couldn't have been more perfect"
The cottage was beyond our expectations, beautifully decorated and extremely clean. It had a wonderful cosy feel with the log fire which was essential with all the cold snowy weather! We travelled with our 2 dogs who couldn't believe that they had a whole filed to play in, their favourite game was just to do endless circles of the field! The village itself is tiny, just 1 pub and 1 cafe/restaurant. We had the most amazing pizza at the cafe on the friday so we defiantly recommended trying one if you get a chance. The cottage is about a half hour drive from either Windemere or Kewick lakes which was perfect for us. All in all a wonderful stay and a big thanks to Freddy for greeting us and being so helpful ;)

"Beautiful and peaceful haven"
Beautiful little cottage with stunning uninterrupted views from the french doors, with it's own private terrace and gated field which my dog loved! The owners were very accomodating, with everything we needed readily available, and help when needed from the owners son-in-law who was on site converting the barn. Lovely log burner made it really cosy on the cold evenings. Very nicely decorated and clean. Kitchen with everything you'll need for a break away, plus a great TV (and wi-fi - for those like me that get nervous without their technology!). Double bed in the bedroom (also with french doors onto the terrace) and a double sofabed in the living room. Bath and shower, one of the best showers I've had! Would very highly recommend to anyone, and hope to be going back myself later in the year.

"Wonderful, romantic little cottage in a beautifully peaceful setting"
Jubilee cottage is a wonderful little getaway tucked away in the pretty village of Morland. The views from the terrace and full length windows are wonderful. The cottage is very very nicely furnished and spotlessly clean providing all the comforts of home. This was the perfect base for exploring the Lake District and provided a quiet, restful retreat while being within just a few miles of Penrith and Appleby. We were really well looked after and had a wonderful stay and will be returning again next year.
