The England region

The Lake District is justly world famous, and more beautiful than can be imagined. Inspiration of William Wordsworth and the Lake Poets, and many other later artists and writers, including the great Beatrix Potter.

It is a great playground for the active walker with breathtaking new surprises round every corner. While the central towns are busy, it is easy to get away from the crowds and be alone all day.

The Lake District has some of the country's top restaurants, the excellent Theatre by the Lake at Keswick, Abbott Hall art gallery in Kendal, Zeffirelli's cinema in Ambleside and many other attractions.

Eden Valley

Morland is in the heart of the rolling Eden Valley centred on the River Eden with the Lake District on the west and the Pennines on the East. It is a quiet area but very convenient for the M6 motorway and the main London train line. It is lush farming country specialising in dairy, beef and sheep with mixed woods.

Very good touring base for the Lakes, the Pennines, the Dales and Hadrian's Wall, all within 45 minutes. Local walks and cycle rides in all directions. Fishing on the Eden, and scenic local golf courses.

Pretty local towns like Appleby and Kirkby Stephen, mediaeval castles and pele towers, attractive villages.

“Wonderful”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2013

This place is just wonderful, Freddie and his wife greeted us with smiles and helpful tour of the cottage and provided an extensive array of local information and walks, the cottage was a converted barn and was just perfect for our stay. The locality was perfect for our needs and we travelled around and the views where lovely from the huge window over looking the hills, Freddie was on hand if we needed him and we felt safe and secure in the cottage. Would recommend this quiet place to stay to anyone who needs a country retreat. Also the pizzas in the village are Devine but BOOK!!!!!!!! Free wifi was a little temperamental but worked ok Thanks Freddie for a wonderful stay really appreciate it :)

“perfect location, lovely cottage”

The Bower House sits in the very pretty village of Morland . It is a small cottage that looks out onto the surrounding fields and hills with a beautiful picture window for optimum views and outdoor patio seating area. The cottage is well appointed and very comfortable with the advantage of having a log wood burner for those chilly evenings which made the cottage very cosy. My husband our German shepherd and i spent 3 nights at the Bower House and it was lovely we wished we had booked a few more nights!! Freddy the owner was very helpful and on hand if you needed anything. We will definitely book The Bower House again.
