Location description from owner

The England region

East Sussex offers the holiday maker a whole host of opportunities to explore, indulge, be active or just plain relax. From the City of Brighton and Hove with its bustling seafront and alleyways to quaint villages such as Alfriston nestling in the valleys of the South Downs, there is always something to suit your mood. For the younger members of your family, there are the lovely beaches, fun parks and safe cycle routes to get their hearts pumping. Visit the castles at Pevensey and Bodiam, Historic houses such as Batemans (the home of Rudyard Kipling), walk in the fabulous green countryside littered with welcoming pubs or be in awe where sea dramatically meets land at Beachy Head. The South Downs, now granted National Park status, is a must on your list of things to do. The terrain varies from energetic walks such as the Seven Sisters Country Park or a gentle amble along the banks of the Cuckmere River to where its fresh water meets the saltiness of the English Channel.
There is so much to do and explore in East Sussex that you will be wanting to visit again.

South East England

Eastbourne has so much to offer that it impossible to list all the highlights! The stretch of coastline along Eastbourne's shores is known as the Sunshine Coast and for a very good reason. It has one of the highest rates of sunshine in the UK. Eastbourne takes advantage of this fact by hosting many prestigeous events in the summer months including Aegon International Tennis Week and Eastbourne Airbourne, the internationally renowned free airshow.
Throughout the year Eastbourne's theatres play host to a variety of shows and performers. There is guaranteed to be something to interest you and in 2014 the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Vincent Simone & Flavia Cacace, Cats and Singin' in the Rain are all visiting Eastbourne. There is myriad of cafe's and restaurants, shops and attractions to keep everyone busy during their stay in Eastbourne.
Children will enjoy the playparks Eastbourne has on the seafront, a trip to the marvellous Drusillas Zoo Park or a ride on the Dotto train. There is tennis, crazy golf and a wide safe seafront for cycling or rollerblading.
Every day can offer a new experience whatever your pace of life and we hope we can help you make the most of your stay in Eastbourne.

“Wendy House”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2016

The best holiday let we've stayed in. Very clean & comfortable. Linen & towels supplied, they have thought of everything. Tea,coffee, sugar & milk on arrival. A real home from home. Very easy access to town centre & seafront. This was our 2nd year going there & will definitely be going again next year. It is also easy to reach from the train station so if you've no transport it doesn't matter.

“Great base for the south coast!”

We spent a week at Wendy House in March 2016. It's ever so central - about 3 minutes' walk from the station where trains and buses depart for Hastings, Brighton, Gatwick Airport, central London (1h 30 min) and elsewhere. Hence no car needed, although there's a garage which our estate car fitted into very neatly if you have one! The house is well equipped with everything you need for a 4-person family holiday: comfortable double bed and two singles, well-stocked kitchen, bath/shower, TV/DVD player, DVDs, books and games, and great Wi-Fi! We were often in touch with Tim (the owner), who was very obliging. A day out in London including a show in the evening can all be done on cheap day returns (first cheap train 9.31am, last trains leave Victoria at 10.47pm and just after midnight). Several affordable restaurants and cafés nearby. It was a great experience and we look forward to returning. Oh, and the deposit was returned the same day!

“Home away from home.”

Lovely house and close to amenities. Neat and comfortable. Quiet area. Good shopping area and close to train station.

“Great location”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2014

A great little house, well equipped and perfectly clean. Quiet little cul de sac, but only a minutes walk from Eastbourne station, 2 minutes from the town centre or less than 10 to the pier and seafront. Loads of places to eat and drink within easy walking distance (no driving!!).

“Lovely house, great location and very well equipped.”

Wendy House is in a great central location a short walk from the town centre and beach. I stayed there with my mum and 19 month old twins and we all had a great time. Gildredge Park is lovely and a short walk away. Tim was very helpful with our booking and Jan the housekeeper was there to greet us and had left some provisions in the fridge. We would love to come back and stay again.

Thank you so much for your complimentary review. It is good to know we are doing things right and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

“A graet place to stay in Eastbourne”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2014

The Weeny House lived up to its description exactly. It is a charming little house conveniently situated minutes from the station and town centre and a short walk from the sea. The house is comfortable, clean and well equipped. It has a real 'holiday feel' to it with the seaside themed décor .There were even garden chairs and a clothes airer. Parking is no problem in Wharf Road, although the garage was big enough for my medium sized car. Tim, the owner was very helpful and friendly in all my dealings with him. Jan, the 'housekeeper, who lives in another of the cottages in The Courtyard was there to welcome us on arrival and was also extremely helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

“Cosy comfort, great location.”

I stayed with my young family at the Wendy House during June 2014. We had a fabulous stay in this cute and compact home. From the original booking we had informative and welcoming contact from Tim, who was very accommodating offering helpful information and advice. The home is tastefully decorated but not overly fussy, which is great with kids. It is very well equipped. The location is perfect for exploring on foot all that Eastbourne has to offer. There is a park around the corner for excercising the kids, with a cafe. The waterfront is a pleasant walk away, as is all the shopping you require (including supermarkets). A garage is available for guests use, but our estate car was too long. Street parking at the Wendy House is limited, but we found a side street minutes walk away that had no restrictions, and the car actually stayed there for days on end as we had no need for it. Tim had already made us aware of where we could park. You can temporarily park in front of the house to unload/load luggage. Jan, the housekeeper, who is located nearby was very welcoming and happy to assist if needed, but left us to get on and enjoy our holiday. WiFi was a delightful addition to the amenities provided. I was most impressed to find that my deposit had been returned before we'd arrived home. Would definitely recommend Tim's Wendy House as a great place to stay for couples, families & friends (maximum 4 people). We hope to return to the Wendy House on our next UK trip.

“I want to stay again.”

I'm going to keep this short. The location is great because if you go 10mins in any direction you're at the pier, town centre, beachy head etc so there's always something to do. Our host Janice was very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble for her. The house itself was fantastic, from the moment you open the front door you feel like you're on holiday. It has ALL mod cons so I needn't have brought the iron haha. The house is very clean and the beds were very comfortable. I allowed my 3 children to play in the courtyard out front as it's away from any main roads and it's big enough for them to run around while I relaxed on the sofa watching satellite TV and surfing using the wifi. I can't wait to go again when the weather heats up.

“Great location, great little house”

We travelled to Eastbourne with our 3yr old and 8 month old for a couple of days break prior to visiting friends in the area and wanted some accommodation with 2 bedrooms rather than a family hotel room. Wendy House was a perfect, compact but well equipped solution! A lovely mews location, friendly welcome from the housekeeper and only 10 minutes walk from the sea front. Spacious bedrooms and clean, modern finish in all the rooms. Would definitely recommend.

“A perfect holiday let.”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2014

We have just spent two most enjoyable months at Wendy House, we could not have chosen a better place for a long let, everything was perfection. The house is so cosy and warm in the winter months and had everything we needed, good central heating, lovely hot water and very comfortable beds. The location is brilliant, right in the town centre and next to the railway station, yet very, very quiet and peaceful. Tim, the owner is such a nice man, nothing is too much trouble, he sorted out a couple of small queries immediately, thank you very much. Have already booked another stay in April.
