The East Sussex region

Eastbourne is the gateway to the South Downs,a natural feast of the south coast’s untamed majesty. It’s not hard to fall in love with the unspoilt natural beauty of England’s 10th National Park, the South Downs. Running through it for 100 miles between Eastbourne and Winchester, the South Downs Way National Trail provides the

perfect guide through the appealing character of its landscape and villages.Just outside Eastbourne, find yourself in the heart of 1066 Country.

Roam the ruins of Pevensey Castle or visit Pevensey’s Tudor built Court House Museum with its old gaol and docks still preserved today. Head further to Battle, named for the Battle of Hastings, and explore the excellent Abbey Museum or watch thrilling re-enactments on the original battle?

Eastbourne’s award-winning beaches evoke familiar joys of the English seaside holiday mixed with the adventure of new discoveries. Indulge your playful side with the Pier’s amusements and the Camera Obscura

giving magical panoramic views of the seafront. Featured in recent movies Brighton Rock and Made in Dagenham, this Grade II listed, Eugenius Birch designed Pier,is one of the country’s few in operation. Pick your blissful corner of the unspoilt beach, languish in a rented deckchair or beach hut whilst the kids go rock pooling or paddling as lifeguards along the main beach watch over. Kidzsafe wristbands are available, as well as showers and toilets nearby, or why not dive into a variety of waterborne activities from kayaking to windsurfing?

Eastbourne

There is just so much to see and do within and around Eastbourne there simply isn't enough space to mention them all!

Eastbourne hosts the famous tennis tournaments as well as the famous free Airbourne spectacular in August which draws in crowds of up to a million. Then there is the Cycling and many Automobile events ranging from vintage cars, old buses, lorries to the latest and newest models. Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters are a bus ride away. In the evening why not relax in one of the restaurants in town, catch a comedy show or magical theatre performance or why not visit the Marina with its harbour side restaurants and bars?

Don't forget to visit the many public golf courses, the minature railway or even the Bluebell Railway for those steam enthusiasts.

“Ideal central location”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2013

The cottage is ideally situated in the centre of town, close to shops and restaurants, with the sea front within walking distance. Accommodation has all the facilities required for a short or longer stay and is to the highest standard. A great time and effort has been given with the coordination of the decor, which we greatly appreciated. Jan made us most welcome and made it be known that she could be contacted should we need her help.

Thank you so much for your review. We feel thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again in the future.

“Comfortable house in a good location”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2013

Compact downstairs but room enough - cosy. Very happy about the memory foam mattresses on the beds! So often I have found poorly supporting mattresses in holiday homes, particularly on single beds. I suspect many owners think they will only be used by children. The mattress here was very comfortable, ensuring good rest - so important! House was in a quiet corner but a stone's throw from the station; a couple of mins from the shopping centre and only a few mins more to the seafront. Really ideal. I was also allowed to bring a poorly guinea pig (kept in his cage!) In order to keep an eye on him and this was particularly appreciated as Christmas is an awkward time of year to ask friends to pet-sit. Free wifi - great! Helpful and friendly property manager Jan made us very welcome and provided a good welcome pack (bread, butter, milk). Thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days over Christmas and will definitely return. Highly recommended.

“Lovely cottage, very good price, within minutes from the centre”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2012

Lovely cottage, clean, nicely decorated, very friendly and helpful owner and cleaner. I did find it difficult getting the car in and out, but then I am not a brilliant driver! The two mattressess in the single bedroom were not that comfortable though.

Thank you for your feedback. We take everything onboard and assess the information you give us. As a result of your feedback we are replacing the mattresses with memory foam ( it's very difficult to find one mattress that suits everybody but we try). There is a freezer in the rear of the garage and we've added more kitchen utensils.Once again, thank you for your feedback.
