Waterside has two separate balcony areas offering sunny seating for most of the day, and is situated right on the now famous Soveriegn Harbour which is the biggest composite marina facilty in Northern Europe, which particulary in the summer months welcomes visitors from many countries including Sweden, Holland, France and Spain. The marina facilities offered to our maritime visitors are absolutely excellent! The very popular Waterfront area has a variety of restaurants,(including Thai, Indian and Itailan) plus bars and shops and is a short level walk from the apartment. The beach (sandy at low tide) is just a couple of minutes' walk from the apartment, and there are good level paved walkways all around the harbour and along the beachfront. For the keen "non sea" swimmer there is an excellent pool at the nearby Sovereign Centre. A good variety of shops can be found at the nearby "Crumbles" shopping centre:- Asda (supermarket) Boots (chemists) as well as "high street" clothing boutiques and a multiplex cinema.

The England region

East Sussex has been on the visitors' map since Julius Caesar and his Roman legionaires landed at Pevensey Bay in AD 43. His legacy lives on in the ruins of many castles and fortifications. In 1066 William of Normandy landed and following the famous battle of Hastings (actually fought on Senlac Hill, just outside the town) where he built the beautiful Battle Abbey, in the picturesque town of Battle, nearby. Today East Sussex and Kent are beautiful Downland and Wealden farming areas, dotted with pretty villages, all with something to say for themselves in terms of their eventful history. There are a number of vineyards in the locality, producing award winning wines. the land and climate is very similar to the Champagne area of France, and we now have wines to rival the best that France can produce! From vineyards to castles, Downland walks to stunning sea views, Kent and East Sussex has it all!Among the most famous castles are Dover, Hastings, Pevensey and BodiamBrighton:- a seaside town with a difference! Quaint winding "laynes" with a wealth of pretty individual shops, and of course the stunning Pavillion, build in the early 19th century by the Prince Regent, later George IVth, it is worth a whole day out on its own. Furnished lavishly, restored impeccably, the staterooms and private apartments are fascinating.Kent and East Sussex offers so much more for the visitor. Eastbourne

Eastbourne nestles at the foot of the South Downs which is an area of outstanding natural beauty and has recently been voted the best holiday destination in England by the English Tourist Board. We have our own microclimate - more sunlight hours than the rest of the South Coast, so there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the outdoor life here. The scenery is truly lovely and the opportunities for walking range from a gentle stroll to a serious hike!Eastbourne is a renowned seaside resort, with all the facilities that you would expect. There are three theatres with year round programmes of events, including pre-West End showings. We are very proud of our art gallery, the Towner, which holds several important exhibitions a year. We are ideally situated for Glyndbourne.Along the 5 miles of seafront you can visit the Carpet Gardens, the Napoleonic Martello Towers (there is one on "our" beach right by the apartment) and the restored Victorian Pier with its camera obscura, as well as the tranquil Falling Sands Beach at the foot of Beachy Head. There is lots for children to do! Drusillas Zoo is 6 miles to the west of Eastbourne on the A27 towards the beautiful County Town of Lewes, and dry slope skiing and snowboarding at Knockhatch at nearby Hailsham. There are numerous boat trips available from the harbour including a "white knuckle" rib ride and charter boats for sea fishing. Do you have a PADDI ticket? the local branch of the British Sub Aqua club is active all the year round. Weather permitting there are some fascinating dives on various historic wrecks in the Channel. There are many excellent restaurants both on the Harbour and in Eastbourne, but let's not forget the wonderful selection of genuine "pub" cuisine to be found in many local village and country pubs. Too numerous to mention here, but put these in your memory bank! The Tiger at East Dean, The Cricketers at Alfriston, The Ram at Firle.......Just the far side of Beachy Head there are 4,000 acres of downland and coastlinewalks in the South Downs Country Park, including Cuckmere Haven - a must-do particularly when the weather is sunny.Bring your passport! The Ferry at nearby Newhaven leaves for Dieppe twice a dayDates for your diary: - International Tennis Tournament 2nd week in June; - Airbourne! (Eastbourne's own 3 day FREE Airshow), 2nd weekend in August: - International Speed Days - early September; - Eastbourne Beer Festival - Mid October. Year round concerts on our recently refurbished seaside bandstand - there is something for everyone here!Did you see the recent "Hungry Sailors" programme on ITV with Dick Sawbridge and his son? It featured the lovely Eastbourne coast from Beachy Head to Soveriegn Harbour, where his boat came in and from where his famouse cookery programme was filmed. Missed it? try and catch it on ITV i-player! Our apartments overlook this stretch of the harbour and is a short walk from they beach where they set up their barbeque. Its Official!! Eastgbourne is the SUNNIEST place in the UK!

“Excellent accommodation in a wonderful location”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2013

We have just spent a fantastic week at this apartment, when we arrived we were meet by a warm welcome from Gordon and Bonny who showed us around the apartment and showed us how to use all the mod cons.We were amazed how clean and the standard and presentation was exceptional there were everything and so much more one would need for a holiday with a personal touch. The views over the marina were lovely and we were surprised how quiet it was yet only a few minutes walk to some nice restaurants , shops and a Asda. I am disabled and I found the apartment very disabled friendly.Oh! I nearly forgot the lovely welcome pack. Thank you Gordon and Bonny for letting us rent your lovely apartment and we hope to return soon.

Thank you so much for such a lovely review. We do try to go the extra mile for our visitors - after all, a holiday is a special time and needs to be as perfect as possible. It's really nice to know that we have done it right!

“Excellent apartment in a superb location”

Reviewed 23 Jan 2013

Needed a stop gap between house sale and purchase and was lucky enough to find this excellent apartment with very friendly and helpful owners. It is very clean and comfortable with a fantastic view of the north lagoon. Couldn`t have asked for more.

Thank you for your comments. We were delighted to be able to accommodate you. Moving house is a very stressful time and we hope that you are now comfortably settled in your new home!

“Pleasant apartment and view, but spoiled by outdated TV and lack of wi-fi”

Reviewed 1 Jan 2013

This was a very pleasant apartment, nice view and with most amenities provided. However, it could have been vastly improved by providing a modern TV and wi-fi access which proved to be unavailable the whole week and did not consider £450 for a week in October good value for money. Found the owners to be rather unhelpful regarding wi-fi connection apart from being informed that there could be "power surges".

Since receiving this review we have been informed by BT that the "harbour hot spot" is totally inadequate due to the volume of use. The "power surges" referred to were due to high internet usage, and we have NOW therefore installed a BT Home Hub in both "Waterside" and "Waterside 2", and have been assured by subsequent clients that this works beautifully. In regard to the TV,there was an adequate TV with Sky, but there is NOW a brand new 32" flatscreen with Freeview. We are sorry that this client felt his stay was not good value. Our number of repeat bookings from previously satisfied customers and the pricing structure, which is in line with the rest of the harbour, would suggest otherwise!

“First Class accommodation”

Reviewed 9 Jun 2012

Owners met us on arrival with plenty of tips about the area, buses and walkways etc. Apartment Super Decor and perfectly clean. Wonderful views over Harbour. Enjoyed walks from the door, including lovely walk to Pevensey Castle.

Thankyou so much for your very kind comments, we are very glad you enjoyed your stay!

“Good sized apartment with great views over the harbour”

Reviewed 19 Feb 2012

We were met by the owners when we arrived, who showed us where to park (the carpark is under the apartment block) and took us upstairs. The parking, corridors and stairs were a little offputting at first, but as soon as the front door was opened, it was obvious what a nice place it was going to be to stay. The views from the living room over the marina were great, especially for a boat lover. The livingroom/dining room is a very good size, as is the main bedroom, with a nice shower ensuite. The 2nd bedroom was good for 2 medium sized children, but might feel small for 2 teens. The kitchen is small but well equipped - good for simple meals, not banquets, but with loads of restaurants close by, that was fine with us. The beach is a short stroll past the other apartment blocks, and the walk to Pevensey Bay with lunch at the Beach Tavern is a good way of getting some fresh air and good food. Walking from the apartment round the side of the harbour to the restaurants was fun, with plenty of boats to look at, and only took about 5 minutes. Pablo's Mediterranian restaurant did wonderful pasta dishes and decent pizzas, though the pizza bases were better in SimplyItalian. Asda just a short walk further on supplied our shopping needs.

“Superb Apartment with fantastic views, we will definitely return!”

Thank you for the use of your beautifull apartment! It was New Year and although the weather was a bit cold it made all the difference staying in such a lovely place and just watching the swans etc. Geoff, Fatima and Georgina Abu Dhabi

Thank you very much for your kind comments, and we look forward to seeing you all again in the future

“Immaculate and extremely comfortable”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2012

We were not disappointed with this beautifully maintained apartment. The view over the harbour was beautiful and although there are many apartments (and boats) here it was still quiet and extremely peaceful and very relaxing. The website was very accurate. The owner was very welcoming and helpful.

Thank you for your very kind feedback - it is so appreciated!
