Description from owner
Welcome to Shorelarks - we are special as we only take one family-group at a time, so children are genuinely welcome, and we are suitable for those with limited mobility. (Please note the header price is for two per night in the double room. Do ask for special prices for 3/4 guests or for 2 singles; and Goodwood event dates are a minimum £140pn but up to x4 people so great value! NB all minimum 2 night bookings only.) Shorelarks is a small, characterful 1930s cottage-style property on a quiet private road. We are 2 minutes level walk from the beach, and 5 minutes from East Wittering village centre with a selection of traditional shops, cafes and the inn. The house was totally refurbished in 2014, and we enjoy welcoming guests to our family home in this unspoilt corner of the south coast; and ignore bad weather forecasts - we have a micro-climate here! Our ground-floor "guest suite" has a cosy double (king size bed) room (£80pn), plus single/ small twin bedded room next door (£40-£60pn),

There is a mini-fridge, and we can provide a travel cot, high-chair & microwave if needed; and a child in a cot is half-price if you provide the bedding. You also have the guest sitting / dining room where we serve you a substantial continental breakfast which is included in the price, and where you can use our board games and eat supper take-aways. We have quiet off-road parking (where your dog can safely sleep in your car), and secure storage for surf boards, wet-suits and bicycles. There are very few B&Bs in this area, and weekends are particularly busy, so we take minimum 2 night bookings only. Please look at our Tripadvisor reviews for independent comments. (We may be able to also offer an upstairs double with private adjoining shower room, with room for a cot, for a larger family group. And can be available as a weekly self-catering property for 6/7 guests over the main summer holiday. Please ask for more details?) We look forward to meeting you!
Location description from owner
The England region
West Sussex abounds with seaside, countryside and cultural opportunities. There is an excellent public bus and train service so a car is not essential. Trips can be made easily to Chichester, Arundel, Portsmouth and Brighton for example. The South Downs Way is a popular walking and cycling route just north of Chichester, and the Goodwood estate, with its many events, is also within easy reach. A day trip to the Isle of Wight can also be easily arranged. For the more adventurous, there is the possibility of flying light aircraft, power boat trips on the Solent, hot air ballooning and helicopter rides!
The Selsey Peninsula (also known as the Manhood Peninsula!) is an ideal location for cycling, fishing, walking, sailing and birdwatching. The Witterings beach front offers internationally renowned facilities for surf-boarding, kite-surfing, paddle-boarding and sea kayaking, as well as the idyllic blue flag sand beaches. For those wanting more leisurely pursuits, theatres, Cathedral concerts, cinemas, restaurants and art galleries are all available in nearby Chichester. East Wittering is a small, traditional seaside village with everything you need for a relaxing break; shore-line pub, a variety of restaurants, independent cafes and shops, banks, post office and chemists. Shorelarks B&B is only 2 minutes walk from the beach, and 5 minutes walk from the village centre.

- Very Good
“Denise were so welcoming and their place was really comfortable.”
Denise's B&B is great to visit with young kids. We were made to feel really welcome and even told to relax about the kids!
You and your family were a delightful start to our 2016 season, thank you! (And as you found as we only have one family visiting at a time there's really no need to stress.) With thanks and best wishes, Denise
“Lovely mini - break”
Margaret and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very hospitable and comfortable. Great to find a B & B with sole use of a sitting room. Breakfasts excellent.
“Very well looked after”
My seven children and I had the misfortune to choose the wettest week of the summer to holiday in East Wittering, but the greatest fortune to be staying at Shorelarks. Our wonderful hosts were more than happy to accommodate the fact we had to stay indoors more than planned because of the weather, and even offered us extra dry towels for the beach and to do a load of washing when we began to run out of dry clothes. Their friendliness and hospitality were incredible, and I do hope to revisit them in sunnier climes. One of the most remarkable aspects of the generous breakfasts was the freshly prepared fruit salad - a different combination every morning. I could not recommend them more highly.
“Home from home”
From the initial booking Denise and Paul have been fantastic. From researching days out and suggestions for us and our 3 year old, contacting us to confirm and clarify our requirements to being available for queries. First impressions were very good. The B&B comprises of the ground floor of the house. 2 Bedrooms (double and single room set up), a reasonable sized bathroom with the good shower and a lounge/dining area were ample space for sleeping/dining and relaxing. There is ample space to occupy the little one with past times (board games/DVD's/Books etc. which are available to borrow) in the lounge. The rooms are a comfortable size with hangers and hooks available for use. We found our stay (and the beds) very comfortable and were given privacy of using the house without interruption. If there is one thing that could be improved it would be a greater segregation of the kitchen (which sits opposite the bedroom) with the B&B area. However, a simple screen used to divide the areas was fine and this was not a problem for us as the kitchen door is closed as was the bedroom door. In all, we would thoroughly recommend the B&B to friends and family and thank Paul and Denise for their hospitality.
“Shorelarks,Home from home B & B”
Just returned from long weekend at Shorelarks with my husband and Dad. Denise and Paul are the Best hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Exclusive use of the b&b meant a very relaxed stay and with all the rooms on the ground floor perfect for the less mobile. Denise's continental breakfast is superb and even though we declined a cooked breakfast, I'm sure it would have been excellent given the choices available. I would recommend SHORELARKS if looking for a high standard accomodation with friendly hosts and a relaxed stay.
“What more could you want!”
Very Clean comfortable rooms, with friendly and helpful owners. The breakfasts were fantastic and would most certainly book again.
Thank you so much, and we look forward to seeing all four of you again. (Apologies for the slight confusion over booking; our prices are correctly detailed in our property description, but unfortunately HL recently "simplified" and inflexible pricing structure - designed for home lets not B&B - automatically quotes for only two guests now!) With best wishes, Denise
“Great stay, great accommodation and great breakfast”
Denise and Pual made as feel very welcome and served a fantastic breakfast. Accommodation is newly refurbished, clean and comfortable. High recommended.
“A warm welcome”
This was our second stay at Shorelarks, and was even more pleasant as it had the feeling of returning to somewhere nicely familiar, but with lots of anticipated fun ahead seeing the places we didn't have time for last visit. We had a lovely warm welcome and everything was very comfortable and clean. The food was excellent and beautifully presented, with helpful enquiries before our stay as to any special dietary requests we might have. This is such a pretty and interesting area that we again found ourselves planning our next trip in the middle of this one - we will be back , and have no hesitation in recommending Shorelarks.
“A really relaxing and recharging stay”
My husband and I enjoyed a stay at the Shorelarks B & B around this time last year when it was newly opened by Paul and Denise. This year we were to enjoy an even more comfortable stay as Denise and Paul have actively been putting time, effort and thought in to how to make the facilities even better for their guests. Commendable improvements included dedicating the ground floor of the house for the use of the guests. So now the guest bedrooms are downstairs with a very pleasant family bathroom on this floor . Paul & Denise have given over their living room downstairs for the use and comfort of the B & B guests. This is a new facility and proved very pleasant and relaxing. With a television, comfortable sofa and chairs, dining table and lots of stimulating books, this family living room is a real delight.. Food was delicious and our stay was comfortable and relaxing.
“Comfortable, convenient and classy”
My husband and I stayed two nights and enjoyed the proximity to beach walks (less than 5 mins to the sea) and the South Downs north of Chichester. Denise was very welcoming and we enjoyed the lovely continental breakfast with fresh coffee, home made bread, fruit salad and preserves.
