Description from owner

We have an apartment for 2 or 4 people in a superb position on the top of East Hill overlooking the sea. Ideal for a perfectly tranquil holiday or short break. There are many walks across the country park or a 15 minute walk across the cliffs down to the Old Town, so no worries about parking. Conveniently located for visiting the interesting places around Sussex and Kent or perfect for just a quiet relaxing holiday.

On a clear evening, the lights along the French coast can be seen together with the many boats and liners

in the deep water channel, so don't forget to pack your binoculars. We are also in a perfect position for viewing the stars and it is especially beautiful with the moon shining down onto the sea whilst enjoying a coffee or glass of wine on the balcony or patio.

Further details

Weekly bookings Saturday to Saturday or short breaks - minimum 3 days

Please speak to owners if alternative days are required.

The East Sussex region

Being up on the top of East Hill, we look out over the sea and Hastings Country Park. Hastings usually enjoys very warm temperatures so we are ideally placed for relaxing on the balcony or patio or walking along the clifftop walks to Fairlight and Rye or along the seafront to Bexhill and Eastbourne.

We have many beautiful gardens and castles to visit in Sussex and brochures about these and other places of interest are readily available in the apartments.

From Hastings station one can be in London to visit the theatre, shops, museums, Buckingham Palace or Madame Tussauds.

East Hill, Sussex

There are many attractions to visit in Hastings - Smugglers Caves, Fishermans Museum, Sea Life Centre, the new Jerwood Gallery or have fun at the Adventure Golf on the seafront where the world tournament is held every year.

Tennis, golf, horse riding and fishing are all just a short drive away from Rocklands.

We have a lot of talented artists and musicians and live music is usually found in the local pubs on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

George Street in the Old Town boasts many different kinds of restaurants and takeaways.

The local fishing fleet launch from the beach at The Stade and the Rock-a-Nore fresh fish stalls and really good fried fish shops in Hastings are stocked with the daily catch.

It is exciting to explore the many twittens with attractive cottages and gardens in the Old Town and to look for the blue plaques which tell us where authors, artists or famous people have lived.

There are also many churches of various denominations around Hastings and St. Leonards.

Through the summer there are festivals or parades along the seafront - the wellknown ones being Jack in the Green at the beginning of May and Food and Wine Festival in September. Old Town Week is always well attended and ends with the fantastic firework display on the beach in October.

Hastings is hoping to regain the greatest number of people dressed as pirates on the beach on Pirates Day in 2012.

Of course, with the Olympics in London this year there will be many celebrations around the town.

“Peaceful location with a great sea view.”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2013

Rocklands apartments are situated within a very peaceful and well-maintained stationary caravan park. The apartment we stayed in was spacious, well-appointed and very clean, if a little blandly decorated. To get to Hastings Old Town on foot you have to walk across the country park from where you can either take a lift or descend a lot of steps. This means lovely views of the sea and town but it is a bit of a trek up again at night so you'll need a torch and plenty of puff! We had a very enjoyable week. There is plenty going on in Hastings and St. Leonard's and we also explored further afield in Sussex.

“Fabulous just fabulous”

Booked sight unseen but could not be happier with the accommodations or Joan and her husband. Really nice apartment, which was very well equipped. Nice kitchens and very nice bathrooms (shame I did not get a picture of the bathrooms to post). The en suite bath even has towel warming rack. The view from the apartment was really nice and being located next to the park and nature preserve was a real plus. Can easily walk to the East Hill incline and either ride down to the town center and waterfront or walk down. About a 10 minute walk down to the water front. Walking back up is a great way to get exercise but you can also ride the incline back up. This was just a great experience. We stayed one week in July and one week in August but really would have loved to just move in permanently.

“Excellent Accommodation with good sea views”

Reviewed 21 Apr 2013

We stayed in a 2 bedroom 1st floor apartment for a week in April with my partly disabled mother and elderly aunt. We found it spotlessly clean, well furnished and equipped to a high standard, in fact we could not fault it at all. Will defiantly use again if we stay around the Hastings area.

“Excellent quality, sea view apartments”

Reviewed 14 Mar 2013

We stayed in a one bed ground floor apartment for 5 weeks in Jan/Feb as we had to vacate our home. Apartments are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We had ground floor apt which has its own patio area overlooking the sea, very nice for a summer break!

“lovely apartment”

The apartment was lovely, immaculate order and pristine clean. The only fault was no dishwasher otherwise perfect.

“we have never stayed in better self catering holiday let than this.”

This apartment was superb every thing was spotless with every thing you needed to make your stay enjoyable. The views from our balcony were stunning and the grounds were well kept.We had a wonderful time in Hastings and surrounding areas and what made it even better was coming back to our apartment. “Beautiful apartment with a fantastic view”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2012

I took my elderly parents (83 and 86) on a short break to this apartment. It was ideal, beautifully furnished and equiped and as the weather was kind to us they were able to sit on the balcony and take in the fantastic views. Every need was considered and there is so much to do locally. I do hope to return with my husband when we will be able to take advantage of the walks in this location. It really was a great short break

“first class apartments in a super setting”

“clean and comfortable”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2012

The apartment was lovely clean and comfortable. We were given a warm welcome from Joan and Len. The apartment was situated in a wonderful position in the country park. Really enjoyed sitting out on the balcony watching the rabbits and other wildlife. The view out to sea helped us relax after our enjoyable days out in Bexhill, Rye, Hastings and Eastbourne. We will be recommending this apartment to all our family and friends.
