Downstairs, the very large master bedroom has its own walk in wardrobe, whilst a further large double on this floor is furnished with twin single beds. All bedrooms are furnished in simple, chic style. The family bathroom has a large walk in shower plus bath and WC. Upstairs there is a shower room with WC. The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances including dishwasher and washing machine. Central heating at The Grove is automatically controlled via thermostats so the temperature is constantly monitored to ensure comfort. Throughout, the house is furnished with pieces of our own furniture - beautiful wooden beds from France with bespoke new mattresses make for a good nights sleep. Outside on the terrace you can see over 40 miles with the lake in the foreground and across to Wales, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. It really is quite breath-taking.

There is ample parking for up to 6 cars. Springfield Farm is entered through automatic gates and is very private. There are tables and chairs outside for guests use as well as BBQ facilities. Set in 20 acres of its own private land, you can walk in an area of outstanding natural beauty and special scientific interest from your back door. There are walks across the Mendips behind you and walks down through Chew Valley in front. The Chew Valley Lake is one of the UK's most visited habitats for bird watchers and is also one of the top spots for fishing. A further five minutes drive and you can reach the Cheddar Gorge - famous for it's caves, potholing and rock climbing. Equestrian facilities and golf are also both available nearby.
The Grove is a no-smoking environment and unfortunately we cannot allow pets - we have our own very friendly labrador dogs, cats, horses and chickens. There is a music studio on-site which has artists recording from time to time and accommodation as part of a recording session can be arranged. We are happy to quote separately for weekend stays but are sorry we don't accept bookings for Hen or Stag weekends.
The Somerset region
The Grove is situated almost exactly between Bath and Bristol. Bath is a World Heritage site and has some of the most beautiful Georgian architecture in the UK as well as the world-famous Roman Baths after which it takes its name. Bristol is a thriving city with a wealth of music, art and shopping on offer - the latter via the new Cabot Circus development which has amongst others a large Harvey Nichols store. Just ten minutes away is the smallest city in England - Wells. The cathedral and surrounding buildings are a real jewel and the music from both the choristers and the musicians at the Cathedral School is world-famous. A little further on is the town of Glastonbury and the village of Pilton - the site of the biggest music and arts festival in the UK. Whichever direction you head in, The Grove is perfectly placed to explore what Somerset has to offer.
Wells has a market day on Wednesday and Saturday and outstanding music can often be heard both in the cathedral and the associated music buildings around it. Glastonbury festival takes place at the end of June. Bath has a well-known series of literary festivals throughout the year. Just ten minutes from The Grove are the caves at Cheddar and Wookey Hole - with Cheddar also offering excelling rock-climbing. About 30 minutes away you can find either Longleat towards Warminster, or heading south, you can visit the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton with its air craft carrier exhibition and Concorde. Bath is a fantastic day out and Bristol has award-winning museums like the SS Great Britain. Even the Harptree villages hold an annual festival in September of music and dance for all the family. Within The Grove, you'll find details of all the local attractions and places to visit.

We booked last minute and had no real expectations, but this place blew us away! It has a huge kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, breakfast bar and table with room for 7 or 8. There is a fab lounge with plenty of sofa space, the bedrooms are all decent size - the main bedroom is exceptional. There are two bathrooms, both with showers, but the downstairs one has a waterfall shower that is bliss. The location is on a farm in a lovely part of Somerset, and there are nearby pubs and towns with good local produce available. We heartily recommend Roger Wilkins cider farm, which the owner kindly told us about and gave directions to. All in all, an excellent place to stay, and we are planning to go back again.
