A lright, spacious & comfortable house; with high ceilings in the old section. We renovated the house in 2012.

The Watch House is a short, level walk from the town, the Boat Museum, the Heritage Centre, the Chain Ferry to West Cowes and all the marine activities. Stroll along the Esplanade, finds a café and children's playground or fish off the sea wall.
You may see a sand piper at low tide or a Cormorant sitting on the breakwater.
The house was built in the 1880's as part of the boat house for the coastguards. To the north is a terrace of Coastguard Cottages. In the 1920's it was converted into a home. For a short time during the Second World War it was a munitions store and a lookout point.

The Isle of Wight has an abundance of country & coastal walks (over 500 miles of paths; one being the Coastal Path circumnavigating the Island), wild life (including the Red Squirrel) as well as the various tourist attractions for example, country houses, art galleries, museum's, children's adventure & amusement parks, botanical gardens & zoo, vineyards, various sporting activities golf, tennis, windsurfing, cycling, walking, horse riding, paragliding, fishing and sailing or just enjoying the sandy beaches; The Needles being the furthest 16 miles away from the house. There is a good bus service across the Island. A large part of the Island is classed as â??An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Island is the perfect place to enjoy the unspoilt scenery; have an activity holiday, attend a music festival or carnival at any time of year.
Cowes is renowned for its sailing, hosting Round the Island Yacht Race, Cowes Week, Fastnet Race and Little Britain, also the Cowes to Torquay power boat race. Most days a cruise liner will sail by along with all the other shipping entering Southampton or Cowes.
East & West Cowes have a good selection of shops and restaurants plus the Marina's & Yacht Clubs along with waterfront walks. For the more energetic, you can walk along the seafront westwards until you reach Gurnard, 4 miles distant.
At East Cowes there is Osborne House (Queen Victoria's holiday home; the grounds now are home to Red Squirrels &, a golf course), Waitrose & Co-op, a health centre, a Chemist, among other shops plus a Heritage Centre & Boat Museum with tennis courts, childrenâ??s play area and cafe on the Esplanade.
The River Medina separates East & West Cowes but easily crossed with a 5 minute crossing on the chain ferry.
