Location description from owner

The England region

East Boldre is a beautiful and traditional New Forest village, located about 1.5 miles south of the chocolate box village of Beaulieu, 5 miles from Lymington and 5 miles from Brockenhurst. There are a number of well known attractions nearby to the cottage including Beaulieu National Motor Museum, Exbury Gardens, Lepe Beach and Country Park and Bucklers Hard. The area also has much to offer outdoor enthusiasts with cycling, walking, sailing, golf and horse riding available in the surrounding area.

Lymington is a pretty market town on the estuary with a good range of independent shops and boutiques, marina, cobbled quay, restaurants and the ferry to the Isle of Wight.

Wren's Nest provides a fantastic base from which to explore The New Forest and its many attractions, the beaches of the South Coast, Hampshire, Dorset and The Isle of Wight - a perfect place for a family holiday or romantic break.

East Boldre

Wren's Nest is located in the heart of East Boldre, a quaint and traditional New Forest village, served by its own post office and store where you can buy virtually anything you need 7 days a week (open till late on Friday) and just a short forest walk to the very popular Turfcutters Pub, a traditional forest pub serving great food and drink with a friendly atmosphere and frequent live music on weekend nights (watch out for the annual summer beer festival, which always promises to be great fun for all ages).

East Boldre has miles of open forest to explore, with historic remnants of 1st and 2nd World War training camps and air fields, as well as miles and miles of forest walking and cycle tracks through the various enclosures and open moorland. Less than 1/2mile from the cottage, 'Hatchet Pond' offers coarse fishing (permits required). It also offers a perfect spot for a picnic and ice cream (ice cream van there most days through summer months).

Wren's Nest offers the perfect base for you to explore and enjoy the best parts of New Forest living.

Lovely cottage in a perfect location looking directly out onto the New Forest. The cottage was extremely well equipped and very comfortable. We really enjoyed our weekend and can highly recommend the Turfcutter's Arms which is a 5 minute walk away - the food was fab! Would definitely look at staying at Wren's Nest again in the future.

“Beautiful, comfortable, cosy cottage”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2016

Having read the two previous reviews, I was a little bit concerned about the condition of this cottage, however, I needn't have worried, as Gemma certainly has worked hard to ensure our stay was enjoyable. The problems mentioned by others have been resolved. The shower in the main bedroom has been re grouted and is like new. ( a very good shower too!). The bathroom is also large so ideal for children. The kitchen utensils are very clean (albeit one or two chipped wine glasses, which obviously weren't stacked carefully enough in the dishwasher...) The damp smells have been eliminated largely because if you open the window after a shower as recommended, the condensation will be removed. Upon arrival we found a bottle of wine and fresh milk, tea and coffee, thank you Gemma! The log fire was a delight after a long day exploring. The location is excellent to visit a wide range of attractions (Portsmouth Harbour is only 58 minutes away and definitely merits more than one day to explore). We also visited Beaulieu Abbey and Palace House, Buckler's Hard, Winchester Cathedral, Dickens birth place and the very lovely Portchester Castle. So plenty to do for all ages even on a rainy day! The Turfcutters arms is only 5 minutes by foot and provides nice pub meals in a friendly atmosphere. We took a walk down to Hatchet Pond and met a lot of little ponies and donkeys and cows! We did a weeks shopping at the local Tesco ( about 10 to 15 minutes away by car) on the first day . We really loved the location of this cottage and the comfort it provided. I cannot think of any negative points and would gladly re book.

Thank you for your kind comments, we are pleased that you had enjoyed our beautiful cottage and location

“Perfect in every way”

Reviewed 24 Mar 2015

We spent a wonderful weekend in March at Wren's nest. It ticks every box you want in the New Forest- being able to walk straight out on to the forest, minutes from Lymington and the coast, 5 minutes walk from a great pub. As for the Cottage itself it is presented very well indeed with all the facilities you could wish for, ideal for toddler with plenty of toys too. Lovely log burner to keep the place snug. A perfect stay!

Many thanks for your kind comments. I am glad you enjoyed your stay.
