Description

20 Riverbank looks straight out onto the Atlantic from Easkey, a traditional, unspoilt Sligo village, first discovered by surfers & fishermen, now a firm favourite with holidaymakers who want to get away from it all in a magnificent Atlantic setting. This stylish, modern property is a much-loved family holiday home: it gets consistently enthusiastic reviews from every visitor, many of whom return year after year. As well as an exceptionally well-equipped kitchen and airy, open-plan living area, the house has 3 bedrooms, a large, enclosed South-facing garden with patio, and lovely views of the sea and the cliffs of South Donegal.

The river Easkey - one of Ireland's best salmon rivers - runs by the estate into the Atlantic, and the world-famous River Moy is a short drive away. Easkey's famous surf breaks are a short walk from the house. The shore walk with its fossils, rock pools, secret swimming spots and glorious sunsets is a wonderful place to stroll, swim or watch

Easkey's famous surf breaks are a short walk from the house. The shore walk with its fossils, rock pools, secret swimming spots and glorious sunsets is a wonderful place to stroll, swim or watch surfers from all over the world take on Easkey's famous waves. The house is perfectly located, with easy access to many magnificent beaches, links courses and tours of Sligo, Yeats Country and wild North Mayo.

This airy three-bedroom, three-bathroom house is equipped to Failte Ireland 4-star standard - and then some. It sleeps 5-6 comfortably - and there's a double futon and plenty of spare bedding for cold nights/extra guests. It includes a fantastic kitchen with everything a keen cook might need, a double bedroom with ensuite, a second room with double and single bed, and a single room.

This is very much a family home: there are books, games and magazines, an open fire, DVD player and large-screen television for rainy days, and the large, fully-enclosed garden is perfect for families with young children or pets. Enniscrone, with its 2km beach, magnifiect sand dunes, links course, seaweed baths and water-park, is 10 minutes drive away; and there are stunning beaches (Dunmoran Strand, Strandhill), and walks (Aughris Head, Lacken Bay, Downpatrick Head, Cnoc Na Ri, Benbulben) and heritage trails (Yeats Country, Céide Fields) all within half an hour's drive of Easkey.

Location description from owner

The Western Ireland region

We bought our house in Easkey because we fell in love with the village and the area. The house looks straight out to the Atlantic, and Easkey's famous breaks. Surfers from Germany, the US, the UK and France return year after year to stay at No 20, particularly in winter when the seas are at their most dramatic. The house is popular with fishermen too, who come to fish the many exceptional salmon rivers and lakes in the region, one of which (the River Easkey) runs right by the house. We love the quiet of the area, and shore walks at sunset in Easkey. We also love swimming in the rock pools by the shore at half-tide - see if you can find our secret swimming spot! Mac Gabhann's is wonderful for craic and a pint, and all our friends own a piece of Easkey Pottery. If you want a place to get away from it all, relax and enjoy magnificent sunsets and the great outdoors, this might just be the place for you!

Easkey

The Ceide Fields neolithic site with the stunning north Mayo coastline (Downpatrick Head, Lacken Bay, the heritage town of Killala) is a lovely drive to the west of Easkey, while to the east lies Yeats Country, magnificent beaches at Dunmoran, Strandhill, Rosses Point and Coney Island (accessible on a causeway only at low tide). For hikers, the Ox Mountains are right behind the village, and Benbulben and the Sligo mountains only a short drive away. For families, Enniscrone offers a huge, shallow beach, a stunning links golf course, water park and cafes and shops. We often visit Lough Kee Forest Park - an hour's drive away - with its amazing kids' zone, zip lines and forest walk. We also love stand-up paddling on Lough Gill and in Enniscrone, and there are two surf schools in Enniscrone. Westport is only an hour's drive from Easkey, and Achill Island and stunning Belmullet a scenic drive away.
