Location description from owner

The Gwynedd region

Wonderful beaches, 2 of our local beaches at Harlech and Bennar Beach in Dyffryn Ardudwy have been awarded the Green Coast award, with natural unspoilt environments and excellent water quality....come on in the water is great and 'safe'.

Music Festivals throughout the year in local towns and villages. Village fairs; open days in local gardens; selling local goods and plants etc. Fantastic Fireworks displays; Summer in Barmouth; October at Shell Island near Llanbedr. Beach Motor Cross event in October on Barmouth beach.

A must see are the Roman Steps at Cwm Bychan. The 3 Peaks Yacht Race/ Summer from Barmouth are also Well worth a visit. Golfers may also like to visit the Royal St. David Golf Course at Harlech. Or why not try the Llanfair Slate Caverns or the Steam Railways at Fairbourne and Porthmadog

Walks: The stunning Mawddach Way, from Barmouth to Dolgellau along the estuary. The new Ardudwy Way, 24 miles long and the Precipice walks, overlooking the estuary.

Dyffryn Ardudwy

Barmouth Town is 5 miles, with a harbour; Blue flag award winning beach; old town village mountain path walkways and of course spectacular harbour views. Famous railway bridge spanning estuary, a beautiful walk across the bridge to Fairbourne, take the ferry back to Barmouth Harbour.

Harlech Town is simply beautiful with a majestic castle and lovely scenic views. Also worth a visit is Porthmadog and Portmerion, Criccieth Castle and Phwelli Markets, take the train for the day and visit them all.

The Rhinnog Mountains are the true wilderness of the local area......a real must of a day out, go and explore. Hill forts, medieval castles and those long, miles and miles of golden beaches.

Crystal clear lakes, cascading waterfalls and rivers.

Finally after a full sightseeing day, feast locally on Welsh Black Beef, Salt Marsh Lamb, Sea Bass and mussells. Eat at the local restuarants or buy locally then cook and dine at your warm, cosy holiday cottage Ty'n Y Clawdd.......in the summer months use the BBQ and sit outside on the patio, with views to the local mountains, breathing in the fresh mountain and sea air........
