Description from owner

Description

Gwytheryn is our traditional 14th century farmhouse, once the home of the Lords of Gwytheryn. It is believed to be one of the oldest houses in Wales.

Gwytheryn has a wealth of original oak beams and panels and the lounge has an inglenook fireplace for those cozy winter's evenings.

The family kitchen has an electric oven a gas hob, a fridge freezer, a microwave and a dishwasher.

Gwytheryn is suitable for a wheelchair user; it has a ground floor twin bedroom and en-suite bathroom with wheel in shower.

Upstairs there are two double bedrooms one with adjoining twin bedroom original paneling still in site. There are another two bathrooms upstairs one with a bath and the other with a shower. Bath towels and hand towels are supplied.

The private garden and picnic area adds to the luxury and homely atmosphere of this farmhouse, and I hope the children will enjoy the play area and games room.

Location description from owner

The North Wales region

Snowdonia is a contrast of rugged mountains and wooded valleys, rushing streams and peaceful lakes, glorious beaches and boat-dotted harbours at Porthmadog, Barmouth and Pwllheli where they host international race meetings.

Dyffryn Ardudwy

Situated in the Snowdonia national Park Gwytheryn is only a mile walk down to Dyffryn Beach which was awarded the Green Coastline award for its clean beach environment and water. Within 2 miles there is a selection of shops and pubs. The mountains for roaming are just as close with numerous lakes and rivers close by. If you prefer a guided walk the annual walking festival at Barmouth held in September is proving more popular every year.

Remember to bring your bikes the cycle routes are fantastic and Coed-y-Brenin has some very interesting daredevil paths to concur.

Its only 5 miles to the busy seaside resort of Barmouth with its numerous eating places and shops and 5 miles south is the historic town of Harlech with its magnificent castle and golf course.

You will find the most glorious ten mile expanse of sandy beaches from Harlech to Barmouth. Visit quaint villages such as Llanbedr, the gateway to Shell Island and Llandanwg with its Celtic church in the sand dunes.
Steam trains, Llanfair slate mines where "The Last Knight" was filmed, learn how hard the colliers of Yesteryear worked, Portmeirion (the Italian village where The Prisoner was filmed) are all close by and if you need any help during your stay we are always more than happy to help in any way.

“Birthday, Anniversary and NYE”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2016

Just had 5 fantastic days\ nights in 2 cottages with a group of friends. The 4 bed and 3 bed farmhouse cottages were perfect for our group of 10 adults, 2 dogs, a teenager and a 2 year old! The downstairs, disabled ensuite was perfect as my wife was recovering from an hysterectomy. We walked to the beach, went for beers at the local hotel\bar, visited Black rock sands, Harlech, Barmouth and Portmierion. We ate in every night and celebrated a birthday, 2 wedding anniversaries and of course New Years Eve! Lovely real fire every night and plenty of drinks. Jane and John were very helpful throughout and we can't rate them or there properties high enough. Thanks for a great time.

“Lovely”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2015

We have just spent another week at Gwytheryn Cottage which is close to and owned by the same people who own Ystumgwern Hall Farm. This cottage and the 3 bed next door have been our base for the third time and they are wonderful. The cottages are comfortable, extremely well equipped, with 4 good sized bedrooms, two of which are adjoining which is good for children. The gardens are enclosed and there is a barn with a pool table, table tennis table for the children, there are washing machines, a tumble dryer and iron and board. From here its easy cycling distance to Benar Beach which we love, the Ael y Bryn Hotel and the Cwdugan pub. We have family in Talybont so this is a perfect location for us. The cottages are quiet, at the end of a road which leads only to the cottages and the farm, so apart from the odd tractor you have the area to yourself. I would definitely recommend staying here

“Beautiful property in a fantastic location, very welcoming and comfortable, can't wait to return!”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2015

We have now stayed in 3 cottages at Ystumgwern Farm over the past few years, this was a family trip with a mixed age group from teenager to pensioner and the accommodation and location suited us all perfectly, Gwytheryn is a beautiful farm house, very comfortable, spotless and spacious with fantastic views of Molefre and the surrounding area. The house has a spacious enclosed garden and patio and we made full use of the BBQ already there. Its a good location for the beaches, good walking and easy road access to the surrounding attractions. Jane and John are very thoughtful and considerate hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed the tea and cake on arrival after a long journey, looking forward to our next trip already!
