The space

Offering contemporary and sumptuous styling our outstanding 2 bedroom luxurious riverside hideaway apartment on the River Wear has been fully refurbished for Summer 2017 by the North East’s leading Interior Design team. It's perfect for guests looking for a stylish relaxing break as a great alternative to a hotel or guest house. Elegantly designed, featuring countless decorative details this private and quiet luxury Durham letting is your home from home.

With its superb quiet location sitting right on the water front overlooking the weirs, Riverside Retreat has its own private access through a secure gated courtyard. From the front door along a hallway its a 2 bedroom ground floor apartment with an open-plan living and kitchen /dining area. It has a luxury main bathroom and master ensuite both complete with Villeroy and Boch, and Hansgrohe sanitary wear. There are 2 double bedrooms both with spacious bespoke fitted wardrobes, king size beds and bespoke soft furnishings. The second bedroom can be utilised as a double or twin room and has a magnificent floor to ceiling feature window overlooking Durham’s historic Framwellgate Bridge. Wake up to beautiful views from Durham riverside and enjoy a coffee on your own private terrace.

Riverside Retreat luxury Durham letting is an easy stroll along winding cobbled streets to Durham’s many Restaurants, chic bars and cafes, but if you prefer a cozy night in, snuggle up in the lounge on the plush corner sofa in-front of the Travertine Celsi fire with a glass of wine and enjoy the unrivalled view of Durham through the French doors.

Located on the ground floor of Durhams Premier luxury lettings in Durhams historic centre with unrivalled views overlooking the weirs and the city’s oldest grade listed bridge its hard to imagine a more beautiful and relaxing place to unwind by sitting in the comfy sofas for an afternoon or two gazing out at the view, from the terrace or from the lounge.

Clements Wharf is a secure gated premises and Riverside Retreat has its own ground floor private entrance across a courtyard. The accommodation includes free secure parking for one car on the premises. Guests have full private use of the apartment including its large private terrace.

The apartment is within a few minutes walk of both Durham Bus Station and Durham Train Station and there are several taxi ranks nearby that are within 100 metres.

There is a strict no smoking policy throughout the apartment and we do not accept bookings from hen or stag parties. Sorry but pets are not allowed throughout Clements Wharf apartments.

“The perfect place to be.”

The location was perfect, everything is within walking distance and Durham is a great place to walk through. Once inside the apartment it is flawless in every way. Inside the apartment James supplied a welcoming package which was amazing and we enjoyed it very much, nice surprise. The little details matter and James has nailed it. Will definitely stay there again in the future.

“The very best holiday rental...........”

My wife and I have stayed in holiday rentals for many years , favouring the independence over a hotel, and without doubt Riverside Retreat is the best yet. From the excellent communication and welcome from James and the stunning location to the 5***** comfort and attention to detail this is a quite wonderful apartment. James mentioned that if the flat is not rented out he and his wife might pop in and have a drink on the terrace over-looking the river and I think therein lies the secret of this place - its furnished as if they lived there, not the sparse minimum you get in many places but a real sense that this is all about comfort and convenience. And when you venture out it is literally a 2 minute walk to the centre yet the flat is very quiet and relaxing. Thoroughly recommend it.

How do damage deposits work?
